zebedy Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Can anyone here please advise what the oil pressure should be when engine is idling??? Just noticed that mine is on 30 psi. It seems low to me. Checked the oil and can't really make out what the level is as there is no diffinative line as such on the dipstick. Again....rises up to about 90psi when under acceleration. It's due very soon for an oil change anyway. Thanks Quote
ZMANALEX Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Yes, sounds good to me, however are you saying that you have never successfully ever got a true dip stick reading? To obtain a true dip stick reading, simply park your car on a level surface and leave over night and check from cold in the morning. simples. Quote
Tricky-Ricky Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Oil pressure at 80C idle more than 14 psi 2,000 rpm more than 43psi. 2 Quote
zebedy Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 No not saying that zeeman. It's just this time I did it just after a five mile run home from work which by then the viscosity of the oil is thinner. I'm suspecting its that. Glad the oil pressure is good though. Thanks all Quote
Mudman Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 You also get a higher initial reading in cold weather Quote
zebedy Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 yes I did notice that. thanks again folks Quote
