Roscoe Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Good evening fellow zedders, I had my front bumper re sprayed last year due to stone chips and now it needs doing again I would like to have it wrapped this time round to save the paint. I'm not sure what it's actually called but many newer cars have it on wheel arch edges etc (the clear stuff) I'm based in Bedfordshire, can anyone recommend me a good paintshop/bodyshop. Quote
richmillions Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I had the same so after the second respray I had the front covered in a clear film, over a year on and about 3 slights marks on the film but nothing has touched the paint. 1 Quote
Roscoe Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 This is what I'm after! I've seen it on a few cars now! The only noticeable bit about the film is the edges... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
jollyranchers Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I took the film off mine as it muted the gloss , it does protect the paint but the bumper didnt shine the same The film is a right pig to remove too , its pretty thick too Quote
richmillions Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I've not had any problems with a difference in shine or gloss. The front end is covered in this pic and it was on 6 months when that was taken. It's not the cheapest though. 1 Quote

I was thinking of getting my front bumper repsrayed as well due to stone chips, how much does the film set you back? Quote
richmillions Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) It is the Mines CF lip (RT used it to make copies from), it wasn't cheap hence RT making copies. This is pretty much where it is at now bar changing brakes and tyres http://www.350z-uk.c...en-all-to-easy/ The film cost about £1k (front bumper, bonnet, both wings and wing mirrors and front lip), it is the xpel film. There are others I'm sure that could be got/done for less. My logic was the stone chips would annoy my ocd especially on a black car. If you are keeping the car at least 2 or three years then it is worth it, if not then it is not cost effective. But when do mods ever make financial sense Edited July 5, 2014 by richmillions 2 Quote
Reecy Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Hi. 3m do the clear film paint protection. It is more expensive than some others, but you shouldn't have any problem getting it off. Hope this helps Quote
Roscoe Posted July 6, 2014 Author Posted July 6, 2014 Il be having the front end done on mine after the spa trip then going to go for some sort of clear film Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
coldel Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Ive seen this done a few times and if you wrap it in the film not to the ends of the panels you can see the line across the car. So either do it all or further enrage your OCD! Quote

CJRamze Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 How much did the front end respray cost? If it's less than 1k I think I'd rather have the respray every 5 years... Although I don't have ocd! Quote
mikejbry Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I emailed JRC earlier in Fareham about having my bumper and bonnet sprayed to remove the stone chips and he quoted £500 plus vat, so £600. That would be with blending in the wings, so any stone chips there would be repaired also. Quite steep but they were recommended on here a while back as doing a perfect job. Trying to find somewhere a little closer to Bristol though if I can. Quote
