Missed Service

Hi Guys

Just bought a 350Z and I'm absolutely in love with it.

Its a 2006 with all the lovely facelift bits (And sadly the facelift tax!)

I've noticed the last service stamp in the book was from 2012 meaning (Obviously) that there is nothing for 2013.

All of the major work seems to have been completed in 2012 also, Bushes being swapped etc but theres basically nothing for 2013

Its a 2006 with Nearly 60,000 on the clock and I should of picked up on this and asked the dealer to service it but I was so excited I forgot.

Theres no service spanner on the odometer but I'm not sure if thats the place its supposed to show, I spent the first few days trying to reset the mileage thing by turning the interior lights up and down.

Basically what I'm saying is, I cant see a 'Service me now' warning or Spanner, I'm also a spanner and I'm not sure if its been serviced since mid 2012

I was told these things can chew up some oil, Checked the oil and its brimmed so...

Maybe its been serviced and not stamped?

Should I just service it anyway and get that stamp? Also should I just do the full works service?

Any rough estimations if I go for the daddy of all services at an independant? We talking like £400?

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to treat her right!

First off congrats and enjoy :)

I don't think these cars have a service indicator, so you have to go by mileage and time since last service. If it had a major service in 2012 then unless it's done huge miles since then I wouldn't worry, just get the standard service done at the first opportunity.

Oh and some cars, mine included, don't use any oil between services. So the level being full is no indication that it has been recently serviced. Even if it does use oil, it may simply have been topped up recently.

Living in South Wales.

Caldicot which means from my house I can see the severn bridge!

I have a local mechanic who is a VW specialist however I've trusted him with all sorts however recommendations are greatly appreciated from any Nissan specialists.

Welcome aboard CJ.

I live near magor so probably 7 miles away from you lol.

Also 3sjr lives just down the road from you.

For servicing if your happy doing the work yourself then that's the most cost effective route.

Otherwise I did take mine down to abbey from where we are for a service in Oct. Now that's a long way but i went there because they did the uprev to my 55 pre face lift zed plus some other bits.

I would say though having spoken to others that you could well try h dev as well since they are a lot nearer and also offer am excellent service from what I've read on here.

There is a garage out Usk way that handle performance cars and while i don't think they'd handled a zed before they gave me an OK price for servicing.

Finally lol there is whif bitz in magor now. He's been specialising in supras for years and years and from other friends they've recommended his work loads. Again not handled. zeds before though but then you're only looking for a service I believe?

Next time I'll be doing the service myself unless I need another remap. However to keep the stamps going in the service manual then probably h dev would be well recommended on here. Wait and see what some others say.

Anyway how you finding the zed? Where did u get her from?

I bought mine a year and a half back.looks like they are getting a lot more common around here now lol

If you say it had a major in 2012 then I assume it was a P3 so on that basis a P1 would be next which is basically an oil change. With 9000 miles since last device I'd get a P1 done by a good indie.

Small world!

My parents live in Magor, I still spend alot of time down that way.

I bought it from Thompson and Thompson in Caldicot, I've bought every single car I've owned from there and to date they've not let me down.

I've always owned performance Seats, Ibiza Cupra, Leon Cupra R but due to a change of Job last year I bought a Leon FR Diesel.

It was the worst year of my life.

I can see that it was serviced on the dot right up until 2012 and then ... nothing

All paperwork like replacement parts, New Sparkplugs etc are all in there until 2012.

The car is... an interesting drive and very different to anything I'm used to.

The clutch seems incredibly heavy and theres a definite whine in 1st gear but after a quick search both those things seem quite common however I'm keeping some money back just incase anything should need replacing.

I find it hard to move away smoothly in first and second gear, It feels very precise either you get it utterly perfect or it bounces a bit.

However launch quickly and its flawless.

.... I love this car!

When i get the bits back on my zed you can always see how you find pulling away in her just to satisfy yourself that its not an issue and just the general feel from the car.

I can't say i find her that jumpy to pull away, clutch a little heavy than im used to but no problems with it in a year and a half so can't complain.

Unless i've missed it could always put up a post introducing yourself as well mate, good excuse for pictures! (which are pretty much mandatory on here lol)

just got the plenum and throttle body off and the strut brace.

Got them back today having being polished :D looking nice. waiting on hoses, catch can, alloy tanks and other bits then it'll be nice and tidier in the engine bay. Got a more significant part to fit then in the coming weeks. Currently using up space in my room and porch lol

Happy to help out with what i know if you wanted to check things or pop over if you wanted to see the zed

If yer doing it yourself then get your own stamp made up for the service book, think of something novel and keep all the receipts etc.. Lots of places online do them cheap.

You can be an independant yourself then

Mine had full service done but I put it through a P3 when I got it and literally replaced ALL the fluids and belts and undersealed it just so I knew that nothing had been missed. I did this at a friends garage and took pics and kept receipts. Good service history is important on these cars.
