Fluke Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Whilst my 350z was in for it's MOT, I noticed that my rear subframe/brace looked heavily corroded. Before I put up a wanted ad and spend money on powder coating, can anyone tell me how hard it is to replace it? Is it possible to do it on a drive way? Quote
sloutrou Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 That will be expensive I'm afraid, I know from experience. Mine had two hairline fractures in it, you can source a brand new one from ZMANALEX, but it involves dropping the rear diff out and a lot of suspension work so a garage might be your best bet. Quote
Fluke Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 I think I gave the part the wrong name. It is the rear bracket, this one. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-350Z-Fairlady-Rear-Lower-Subframe-Chassis-Brackets-Braces-/281145650308 Quote

GMballistic Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 ^^ What he said. Think it's called the "W-brace". Mine doesn't look great but it's on my to do (one day) list. Quote
Ewen@Clark Motorsport Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 They are around £200 new but as has been mentioned if its not to bad give it a clean up and paint. Quote
The Trouser Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Had mine done recently at my Nissan dealer - £288 fitted. Quote
AliveBoy Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I don't have one as mine rusted through/got broken by speedbumps, no adverse effects, even on track. As above, wire wheel and hammerite should do the trick Quote
Fluke Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 Thanks for the replies, Is it easy to remove? I can get it sand blasted powder coated very cheaply. Quote

I'd probably recommend soda blasting if possible as it's less abrasive and will damage the part less. There's 3 bolts at either end and then 4 in the middle if I recall correctly Quote
