Oil pressure gauge

Hi guys. Today's problem is my oil pressure gauge. I believe it's the oil pressure sender unit that's faulty but if someone could confirm id be more than grateful. When engine running at the start oil pressure is 120+psi. When ignition on and not running it's at 60psi.

If it is the sender unit how much for one and has anyone or any?

Cheers in advance

Is this something you have just noticed or dare I say, haven't monitored the guage too closely previously?

If its running 60psi when hot and say @ 3k rpm+ then that's fine.

Cold start it will go over 100psi.

But when is the last time the oil was changed as it may have become more sludge like and thicker oil means higher pressures

Rich - yes mate I believe it to be that one. That's a very reasonable price. ðŸ‘

Ebized - it just happened 2 days ago. I change the oil every 3k miles. I did a little research into the problem and on the us forum a member said to check the pressure when car is not running. It should read 0psi. If it's anymore then it's the oil pressure switch. I hope that's the only problem! There's no oil leaks and the level is spot on.

Word of warning they are stainless steel and screw into the alloy block , so be very very careful tightening ! I would recommend draining the oil and applying a sealant to the new sensor NOT PTFE and allow it to dry for a few hours before refilling the oil and starting the car

Just wait until next oil change if you can
