  1. What's a decent manifold manufacturer. Probably not japspeed as I had a japspeed on my 200sx and the welds went after a few months. Saying that the rest of the exhaust was faultless.
  2. Was thinking manifolds! Got a new clutch/lightweight flywheel last year. So they're fine. What about intake manifold? Just a spacer or like a kinetix or something
  3. As the title suggests I'll be getting my engine rebuilt soon. It will be a standard rebuild. And whilst it's out I was wondering what you guys recommend to replace or upgrade? I'll also be getting a full exhaust inc HFCs. Probably an ARK or invidia gemini.
  4. I've had some 'enthusiastic' driving in my z. Had an altercation with a Astra vxr and new shape focus rs. The Astra fell away and I was pushing the rs all the way. This was on a private road obviously. I'm proud of what the z can achieve. And mine isn't even the hallowed hr! But like most people are saying it's the looks that matter. Also the z was built from the ground up to be a sports car. Hot hatches are exactly that hatchbacks that have had to be adapted to take a few more ponies.
  5. Sound advice there my friend thanks! This is the kit I'm referring to http://www.z1motorsports.com/350_g35/product_info.php?products_id=4266%7B15%7D1331%7B31%7D276%7B32%7D1267%7B36%7D387%7B46%7D1774%7B361%7D1779%7B365%7D1795 Obviously with all options added! ðŸ˜
  6. If you're thinking of having an engine rebuild rather than buying a second hand motor like I linked then one person to speak to that springs to my mind is Keyser. Here is his build thread; http://www.350z-uk.c...date-25th-july/ I'm sure he could give you a few pointers. Me?? I know nothing It's a tough one to answer - If your not going to to something silly like a 2JZ or LSx engine swap don't change the engine as Alex (who has more experience than me) has said it is not cost effective and you get very little gain (yes the HR has more poke on paper) As to new engine or rebuild, cheapest option (especially if like me you have the facilities and mates) is an engine swap. Always a chance you will get a bad motor though - as Luke did a while back Go to a reputable source and you should be OK on that one though. Engine rebuild - will cost more even if you do it yourself but you should have an "as new" engine when finished - forged internals etc a great idea but you need a good idea of where your going, if your adding a turbo later you want lower comp pistons etc for an SC build maybe slightly lower than stock but you can stay at stock ratio if you want just run lower boost. I'm going to be looking at something on Mrs K's roadster soon as that uses oil so gonna have to do one or the other myself, although I do have 3 spare (broken) engines to rebuild if I go that way Good luck whatever you decide mate Abbey quoted roughly £4k for a rebuild including parts. If I was rebuilding I definitely will be going down the forged route. But it would be 11.0 compression, as I'll be keeping it na. What will I need to do to the block? Am I as well to get oversized pistons or just stay standard? The rebuild kit from z1 would be about £2k plus customs. I was thinking of getting the cosworth or kinetix plenum plus stage 1 or 2 cams. If I could get all that for under £5k with me and my mate doing the labour I'd be a happy chap

That rebuild thread is 80 pages long 😱!! I'd like to supercharge and forge the engine but that's a whole new territory!!
  8. Any other thoughts/advice guys?
  9. Still no further forward guys. My mrs and I are having our first baby in January and she frowns highly on buying the 370z. But is willing to let me rebuild or replace engine in mine as I love my z so much. I know the advice states replace with like for like but seeing as I can't get a revup anywhere for love not money, I'm thinking of rebuilding with forged internals ðŸ˜. Now I know this will cost a lot more but then I know it won't happen again. And with a used revup I could have the same problem down the line too. Sooooo been looking at the states for rebuild kits and this looks pretty reasonable! http://www.z1motorsports.com/350_g35/product_info.php?products_id=4266{15}1331{31}276{32}1267{36}387{46}1774{361}1779{365}1795 Around £2000 for all parts. Now if be rebuilding with a nissan master tech. What other things should I do to increase reliability and most importantly power. I'm willing to spend up to £5000 including the £2000 for the kit. Hope I don't get burned for this ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
  10. Saw an 06 in Denny on Thursday 14th
  11. Yes but not too much or you will screw the readings, 125psi is lower than the stated limit in the manual, lowest is 142psi and std is 185psi, so you have considerable ring/bore wear, unless the reading doesn't change with oil added. Yeah I did that. Unfortunately I let a bit too much drop in and the reading shot up to 275psi
  12. Ie pour oil down spark plug tube?
  13. All 6 were at 125psi. Process I followed was all plugs out, fuel pump fuse removed, comp tester in each cylinder one at a time. Start car with full throttle and turn for 7 times and obtain reading
  14. Clutching at straws here but is there any way the compression could be low because of the valve stem oil seals have gone? Or anything other than rings? Just because all 6 cylinders are at the same psi. Would all 6 go at once?
  15. Surely he won't get much for trade in with a broken engine? I'd imagine he has to throw more than £1200 to get an HR? His car is running fine at the moment but wont be for much longer as he found oil on the plugs. So if he was feeling cheeky he could trade it into Arnold sharks and walk away with another one. Yip 👠haha Saw a yellow 370 for £15k 😳 I want 😛
