djr1 Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Hi, I've just bought a 2005 350z. Fantastic car, but it's come with an unexpected surprise. It seems the exhaust is not standard, despite me being assured that the car was standard when I bought it. Not a huge problem, but I'm intrigued. How can I tell which system it is? Its stainless, and has two separate rear silencers. The system is two separate pipes to at least as far forwards as I can see from the rear of the car, I suspect it might be two pipes all the way to the manifolds, but ill need to get the front of the car up to see. Any ideas where a manufacturers logo might be? I'll probably be looking to put the OEM system on, so might be on the lookout for a swap if anyone is interested... Thanks. Quote
MITZ@CougarStore Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Any photos of the system, some stamp their exhaust tips with their logo and there should also be plaques on the mid pipes and sometimes on the Y's too... Quote
MITZ@CougarStore Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 And welcome to the forum and Zed ownership too... Quote
Nhmusicman Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Let me know if you wanna go standard, as we're looking to go stainless and louder! ..... Quote
djr1 Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 Ok, point taken. these are about as good as I can get without getting the car off the ground. I can't find any makers stamps. Two manifolds meet in a centre section under the seats, then splits again into twin pipes. Any ideas welcome! Centre section, taken from under drivers door facing backwards.: Taken from rear of car facing forwards: Tail pipes: Quote
Y23DRH Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) Looks like a magnafolw custom exhaust to me :/???? Edited May 28, 2013 by F4ABP Quote
KyleR Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Almost certainly a custom exhaust going by the clamps used in the centre and the generic looking back boxes? Is it loud? Quote
djr1 Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 Kyle - it's not hugely loud. Idling is very quiet. It's also quiet cruising along on the motorway. If you accelerate hard it's quite loud, but not overly so I don't think. Quote
djr1 Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 After eyeballing some photos of stock exhausts, the join of the two manifolds is as standard. It only seems to be from there backwards that it's different. There are plenty of standard exhaust systems on ebay at the moment - I intend to swap back to standard. Obviously if anyone is interested in a swap then let me know, or the back sections I have will end up back on ebay as well. Quote
