JackStrong Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Hi, So i previously had Kumho's on all round. Came with the car. Last month i replaced the rears with FK453's along with new drops links all around. I just seem to be losing the back end when going around bends at ~40mph, only for a slight second before the traction control light has an epileptic fit and the car gets grip. Suggestions ? Quote
SteveW Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 How many miles have you done on them? Can take up to 1000 miles for the release agent to wear off new tyres. Quote
Seabee Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 is this mainly on wet roads? falkens are quite a hard rubber if they are the same as they where years ago when I had them, Kumho's are very soft and grippy but wear quick its most likely the sacrifice for performance vs economy lol Quote
JackStrong Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) I would say im coming up to ~1000, will confirm nope, dry roads Edited May 8, 2013 by JackStrong Quote
ioneabee Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 its a silicone spray that they use in the moulding process - should wear off after a couple hundred miles at most Quote
AMT Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I've just replaced my 452's with 453's all round, and I've noticed they don't seem to grip as much when cornering hard, theres that stage where it looses grip before grabbing on. As said dunno if its the release agent so need to wait, but I've spent the £ there staying on now! Quote
JackStrong Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Will see if the problem goes away then. Will be driving 300 miles this weekend so should pass the mark by then Quote
Ekona Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Check your alignment too, could well be that something hasn't been set right after the droplinks were installed and they've given you a different setup to the one you had previously. 1 Quote
GT Driver Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I've put 453s on in the last 250 miles myself. Haven't noticed the same issue myself, but I having been taking it pretty handy with them until they are bedded in. Quote
