Metallic scraping noise with steering lock applied

Hi all,

I've recently noticed what can only be described as a metallic scraping kind of noise coming from the rear (I think) of the car whenever I have a a fair amount of steering lock on. I can't hear anything with the windows up but with them down it's quite noticable, the car also seems to have developed a knocking sound as well which can be heard with the windows up but I can't feel anything loose when I'm driving.

Any ideas? And are there any recommended garages in the Essex/Braintree area that know Zeds well?

My apologies if these are amature questions that have been covered a million times before, but as you can probably tell by my post count I don't frequent this forum particularly often

Any pointers greatfully recieved

Stu

I had a problem similar to this a few years back when cornering left @ speed. Got black flagged for it on track. Went over the car checking every moving part & changed pads/disks, & it ended up being the metal dust shield behind the nearside brake, it was just touching the disk under extrreme cornering. But as stevo said it`s likely to be low pads.

That. Your scraping noise is probably the dust.stone guard behind either front wheel if it's just when on lock, mine did this too. Wheel off, bend the guard back slightly, wheel back on, problem solved.

Thanks for your replies guys, sounds like it's a simple fix, thankfully! I need to sort out the clicking axles as well so will investigate/repair/replace at the same time, I won't need to drive the car until it's all sorted so I've no concern about driving with possible low friction material on the rear pads.
