Boot won't stay open

I see you have the standard spoiler on the tailgate so it does indeed sound as though a strut (unlikely to be both) is shot. They can be regassed or I suggest you :pmzmanalex:;)

Use the search button - we see this every year as the weather gets colder the gas constricts... if you can't lve with it you can replace or re-gas

Took mine to SGS this summer, as we were passing by, saved having to take the struts off & post. Although the pressure was ok, they said, they re gassed a few extra psi, worked for about 2 weeks, now they don't.

Just fitted a new uprated set from SGS. Boot still won't open past the lock without help. But once open and with a little help, it will then open of its own accord all the way up. I now imagine that the counter weight (that I removed) will balance the boot better so that it can close with ease.

I suspect the the reason the boot won;t open past the lock is not due to the gas struts but due to the two springs. Probably need a new set that will push the boot open quicker. I've tried the penny trick with no joy.
