Hi All - Buying my 350Z

Hello,

Clearly I am a newbie but I did browse this forum yesterday and read a few things before making my first post :D

I would like to know, I have a budget of favourably up to £5000 to buy a Z, what sort of year car and mileage should I relistically expect to get for this money £5500 at a push.

I did consider bidding on this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320964630708?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 but he says he wants £7000 :bang:

The other is this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170895978316?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 but miles are too high for me....

Then this one, but no history before it entered the UK he told me http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201232481014078/sort/default/usedcars/price-to/6000/model/350_z/make/nissan/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/postcode/so165gp/radius/1501/page/1/quicksearch/true?logcode=p however he has owned 4.5 years

I am getting rid of my Corsa! Please dont judge me as some spotty teenager who is living in the clouds lol, im not im nearly 28 and have 3 years NCB and got quoted £88 a month for insurance which I think is very reasonable.

Thanks

Re the cars its a tough one as not many would probably touch them but then we are talking about a 5k budget.

As you state above your not a spotty teenager but your still getting the same spiel that all low budget noobs get........tread carefully. 5k gets the arse end of the market..........5k can turn into 5k plus 2k repairs very quickly.

My advice.....save another grand and half if you can.......other wise for the love of god take your time choosing. Do not try to find any car that fits budget just so you can pick it up on your day off.

With that budget you need to take your time and pick very, very carefully.

As Ricey says try and have some contingency fund, my first zed needed tyres and brakes pretty quick and with another few bits and bobs that was £1000 gone.

There is bargains out there but make sure you go into zed ownership with eyes open to potential costs

Yes that is practical advice, I could theretically stretch to £6k, but wanted to keep some back'just in case'.

I really find money burning holes though lol, but I know this needs to be thought through properly.

The other one I saw was this one, contacted owner done 77k, offered £5k but expect to get knocked back. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310418886536&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123

Appreciate the advice guys

Don't know why but I prefer the other import you posted above.

Leather looks a bit shagged on the one above (there again that can be quite an easy fix if it's just superficial)

Make sure you either know the buying guide like the back of your hand or print it off and take it with you.

The 88 quid insurance quote......that on a uk car or an import?

Well these were some of my questions and his answers were as follows:

1) How many previous owners?

2) Any marks on exterior? very minor marks, less than average

3) HPI Clear or ever insurance claimed? no claims what so ever

4) Anything replaced over time eg clutch, flywheel etc? just replaced exhaust, front discs and pads.

5) Tax and MOT currently left? just taxed and mots last month

I will defo print off the guide, he said yes £5k.

Insurance was either monthly installments at £62.09 a month + Dep £138 (my mistake on 88 :bangin: ) or £693 through priviledge. and was import quote i believe

Okay Guys,

Arranged to go test drive this tomorrow http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201233481880757/sort/default/usedcars/price-to/6000/price-from/1000/model/350_z/make/nissan/onesearchad/used/page/2/radius/1501/postcode/so165gp?logcode=p

Very Excited, will print off what to look for though. He has told me though, needs front tyres in 1-2k, and needs a spring that pops the boot open replaced as it is fragile where he shut the boot with something caught, also only had it 11 months, should any of this bother me?

Many Thanks

Hopefully tomorrow will be posting as a new owner
