Cleaning Heater System - My Zed Smells!

The previous owner of my Zed was a smoker - this means that now when I turn the fans on to heat or cool the interior I am assaulted with a hybrid scent based on the combination of a tramps armpit and a public toilet on a summers day

 

This is not a heavenly scent, nor is it something that Calvin Klein would consider adding to their range of fancy smells.

 

Can anyone recommend something with which to fumigate the heater system to save my gag reflex

You can by aerosol tins of deoderising agent.

You place your a/c on recirc, on full, and set the tin off in the passenger footwell (it has an auto function) and close the doors. Leave it for 10 mins.

I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the product but Im sure someone will be along soon with it.

I think this is what your after, had the same problem, but you do need to keep your air-conditioning on auto all the time to keep the smells away permanently.

Comma Air Con Cleaner available at Halfords (procedure as mentioned by Lexx)

 

Also, if there is smell of a previous smoker trapped in the headliner/fabrics, what is also believed to help is a bowl of vinegar left in the passenger footwell overnight.

Will start with the vinegar and order up the comma or the auto glym sanitiser...they have mixed reviews.

 

Have you guys actually used the comma? Don't want to go from smelling like a hot undercarriage to toilet duck!

I have used the Comma Cleaner just a week ago.

It's not a harsh chemical smell afterwards. Just a Frebreeze kind of smell

I have the Viking Air Con Cleaner in stock and good to go same/next day.

 

Very easy to use and it works and smells good

 

Just sit it on the front floor, pull the trigger and close the door.
