Do detailers clean engine bays? I am happy to keep the interior and exterior of my car clean but not really sure how to clean the engine bay so wondered if you could pay someone to do it for you? It is quite clean at present so someone must have kept it clean but I can see it getting dirty if I dont keep up the cleaning regime

I have engine bay cleaning as part of my 2 day package. So I'm sure other detailers will offer the service.

Thank you Wasso. I couldn't see anything about it on the site I was looking at so thought I'd check here before making a fool of myself by asking someone directly ;) Pity you aren't a bit nearer!

Its no more difficult than cleaning your bathroom.

- Buy auto glym engine and machine cleaner and spray on inside engine bay.

- agitate with paintbrush as necessary.

- rinse off carefully with water from one of those narrow spout watering cans

- use brain to keep electrics dry as reasonably possible

- spray on auto glym rubber care.

- close bonnet and walk away

That is all. Unless you literally want to be able to lick the inside of the engine bay that will be clean enough. Anyone who tells you it has to be more complicated than that is incorrect in my view.

Thanks everyone for the advice :) I've booked to get it all done professionally the first time and I will see how he does various bits (if I can watch without getting on his nerves) and then I will attempt it myself the next time it needs doing. Probably won't use loo cleaner on it though - or did I misread that bit :lol:

Thanks bronzee. I am new to all this so all information is most welcome

A bit of light, bedtime reading for you then. :D

I appreciate Swiss's guide is very Impreza oriented but there's some very good general advice there too.

It's really not that difficult to do yourself, I've not managed to break anything (yet) despite doing several engine bays and I'm a complete idiot at the best of times.
