kershaw-350z Posted April 18, 2012 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Hi i have an 08 plate 350z and i love it to bits . I bought it from a nissan dealer in january but ever since i have had the car their has been a whineing sound coming from what i believe to be the gearbox. So i get the car booked in and they told me it was normal and that it was fine i was a bit dubious about this tbh but i took their word for it but the problem has became much worse the car judders at 1500 rpm in any gear and if u take the revs above 3000rpm in second gear their is a bad whining coming from somwhere in the drive-train. It also does it in 6th gear on the motorway i understand their was a recall on my car, i mentioned this to the nissan dealer and he thoughht i was lieing and that they spoke to tec support and every thing is fine what do i do? daveparkin Posted April 18, 2012 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Where in the country are you? You could try to meet somebody else with a similar car and compare the noises? I'm in Dorset if it helps, and my 57 plate should be mechanically similar to yours. The transmissions are a bit noisy on the zeds, but I wouldn't say a loud whine is normal. Ekona Posted April 18, 2012 Share Posted April 18, 2012 If it's a HR Zed (which it is) then a massive amount of gearbox whine is perfectly normal, don't worry about that. As far as the juddering goes, it could be a flywheel problem or maybe the clutch not engaging properly. Take it to a specialist for a second opinion, even if it costs you £30-40 for a quick diagnosis or just to set your mind at ease then it'll be money well spent. kershaw-350z Posted April 18, 2012 Author Share Posted April 18, 2012 thank guys for the replys .. im based down gosport so quite away from dorset. and yes it is an hr engin it an 08 just done 34000miles i dont know what to think tbh am i rite in thinking there was a recall on 07+ cars about the slave cylinder or was this just usa cars??? ... also is their even such a thing as nissan tec support and if there is why do the mecanics have such little knollage on the car that they have to use itdoes make me think that i should go somwhere else but the car still has 1years warranty .. also my mot is due begining of may and i booked it in with them for a full servisewith nissan .. and for an mot p2 servise and diff oil gear oil anspark plugs i got quoted 800pounds .. but am i rite in thinking my car should be having a p3 service this time round ???? Order all parts and materials needed from the likes of zmanalex and get an independant to do it. Or even buy the parts and get nissan to do it so as you know its top quality stuff you are getting.
