Adam rs Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Im fitting my berk high flow cats this week. Should i re-set the ecu when im finished or is there no need? Didnt even know this was possible but seems adviseable according to the very good fitting guide on youtube. What harm can it do? Ive looked into how to do it but surely its easier to take the battery off overnight. Any advice please. Quote
Lexx Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Im feeling remarkably generous tonight so I wont have a dig, other than to say use the search function and the FAQ and the guides! This has been asked many many many many many many times. An ECU reset is not required. Although the EML may come on for a variety of reasons after fitting HFC's. The ECU reset is easier done by doing the pedal dance which take 2 minutes and doesnt wipe out your radio settings etc....which is what disconnecting the battery does. Oh, did I mention that this has been covered before? Quote
glrnet Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 So, what's the pedal dance Lexx?................................ sorry couldn't resist Quote

Adam rs Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 I understand its not absolutely necessary i wondered if it was something that was done as a matter of course to avoid any issues on initial running of the berks. Doesnt matter to me really as its of back to RS tuning when theyre fitted. Just thought it might be adviseable. Ill leave it then. Quote
elfman Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 The ECU adjusts it's self as it runs anyway mate so i wouldn't bother. Good restraint there Lexx Quote

Wasso Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Well considering I got up early that morning, washed and waxed the car before the announcement and without a COLD shower I'd busted my gonads but heyho, next time Still enjoyed it though. Quote

Thats not quite true , they will adjust to the parameters in the map but the parameter in the ECU might not be correct for the specification of the car. A re set will reset the self learn that the ECU has learnt , so this maybe closer to the setting's that the mods fitted to the car require and the car wont take as long to re learn. Mark Quote
