mokelby Posted July 18, 2011 Share Posted July 18, 2011 I just bought myself a lovely 2007 roadster and I have just noticed there is a slight tear in the roof near the drivers side window. See attached link: http://twitpic.com/5s09h4 Its not really a big issue for me as its only a couple of centimetres. But I have noticed whenever I take the roof down the strain on the rip seems to make it bigger slightly. I have been reading a few guides on about repairing this. I have seen some impressive videos of repairs using something called Storm Sure which involves taping the front and then getting behind the rip and glueing it basically. This looks like it could work, but the position of the rip is directly behind the main beam for the roof so I can't seem to get behind it. Does anyone have any advice about repairing these sorts of rips? or even know of repair places near the midlands. I think if I could figure out how to unclip it by the window I could repair it fairly easily myself. But I just can imagine myself ending up with bits left over if I attempt to dismantle anything. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have tried searching, and although these sort of things seem common enough. There doesn't seem to have been anyone who has a proper solution. The zed`s roof looks like its got loads of parts and so trying to get to the back of the rip will be a nightmare I think. Thanks I have not bothered fixing it yet. I have put sail tape on it instead which has stopped it ripping any further and stops the wind noise which I was getting when I went over 60 mph. Will370z Posted March 13, 2012 Share Posted March 13, 2012 I can definitely recommend stormsure, its fantastic stuff and i used it on my roof. But the zed roof is pulled very tight and given the size of your rip it stormsure will only do so much. Id go see a specialist, they can get hold of new roof material for a lotless than nissan. Car Hood Warehouse Ltd. there in Chessington 0208 391 5326 Hadn't gone all the way through and looked like a cat or something had scuffed it, you could just see a bit of daylight through it. They did a really neat fix, combination of a perfect mohair patch on inner with their secret waterproof glue and some black silicone on the exterior. It hasn't split or anything with the roof going up or down, job done for £25! They call it a temporary fix as it won't last forever but it's better than the alternative of replacing the whole thing until its faded and knackered!
