ricardopatrese1
Hi I recently bought a 2006 350z and was told by the showroom that it was fine to use standard unleaded petrol. Before purchasing the car i read otherwise and so have since been buying the hi-octane shell optimax etc - Will i potentially harm the engine if i use the standard petrol or will i just suffer a slight drop in horsepower? gunmetalzgt
Slight drop in HP and torque Fine to run on either, I believe the ecu adjusts everything to the fuel you put it.
rtbiscuit
recommended to use 99 ron or as close as, Tesco 99 ron is fine and not to expensive. what you save in money using 95 octane you lose in mileage driven on a tank. might as well use the hi octane at least you won't loose the power as well

ricardopatrese1
Nuthouse?! Yeh, I also read about the mielage so I guess the extra power and miles make up for the extra cost! I suppose I didnt buy it for fuel efficiency!
drob
i just saw that if you dont use high octaine you lose about 15ps, so if anyone knows what that is in horsepower please let me know

drob
ill just stick to high octaine, although i dont know if this is true but supposidly as 95 ron and 98/99 ron hav different additives in them,if you mix both your ment to get an even greater fuel, not sure how true it is
martinmac
Mixing the fuel robs you of the advantage of the (( ron. The car will run fine on the lower octane but if you are then using the car for something more exciting run it down as far as you can before putting in the 99. martinmac
Not sure about the Jet but when I had the Nismo ecu in I used a lot of different brands. The Nismo needed over 99 in theory. They all worked well apart from 1. I put BP ultimate in it onece and just about managed to keep the car running until I could refill with Shell. It was a real bag of spanners.
