Dicky Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Can someone tell me if special purpose paint is required to spray the plastic bits on the car and if so what’s it called? Cheers Dicky Quote
rtbiscuit Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 need to use a good plastic primer first. its more flexible and stays that way. and helps the paint bond to the plastic. Quote
Husky Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 i posted a guide to this a while ago viewtopic.php?f=35&t=28736&hilit=spray+paint a wee search always works im using plasticote spray paint just now Quote
ChrisS Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Just thought I'd add. DON'T use Halfrauds lacquer on top of Plasticote. It eats the paint. Quote

Dicky Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 Thanks for your replies chaps, apologies Mr Husky. So it’s a good primer suitable for use on plastic to provide the key, followed by ordinary cellulose paint then. It’s just that I’ve seen pictures of under bonnet painted plastics bits and been a bit nervous to have a go in case the paint flaked or cracked as the plastic flexes. Cheers Quote
rtbiscuit Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 i did my engine cover, i used halfrauds paints, i used their plastic primer, nissan red, and then a special petrol resistant laquer. for the best paints go to www.paints4u.com Quote
