Exhaust blow - will it affect MOT?

Recommended Posts

My exhaust backbox/midpipe has a small blow in it - it is noticable but not overly loud, just sounds "sporty". It's the stock/standard exhaust. Will it affect my MOT? I've got my MOT end of this month. I am planning on getting the Japspeed K2 exhaust but it is currently out of stock :(

Thanks for any help and info.

In theory yes, the mot tester can fail it if he/she considers it to be a substantia leak, so it is down to his/her discretion and it it is to the point you can hear it i am 99% sure he/she will fail it. That asside it will also effect the emmisions reading so could fail because of that aswell.

Where in the country are you ?

Wish i'd read this earlier. Mine just this second failed due to a blowing exhaust. ar$e.

Sure Halfrauds do the putty. Jam some in and get back today and it should be a free retest

I had the same problem at my last MOT. Put it in anyway and the garage did a little weld without any prompting and passed the car :yahoo: (Brincars at Cannock). Only lasted a week and have since got a K2, happy times :yahoo:
