Lincolnbaggie Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Tried to fit my harness cover yesterday However, I'm having problems tightening the bolts that hold it to the timing cover. I've fixed the brackets behind the cover as in the instructions, but that doesn't leave enough room to get the allen key on to the other bolts I can't tighten the bolts to the timing cover first cos then you can't get at the nut behind the cover? Am I doing something wrong, or do I just need a much shorter allen key (which I haven't got)? I'm sure other people have fitted these and I must be doing something wrong Any help much appreciated! Lincolnbaggie Posted August 20, 2009 Author Posted August 20, 2009 cut the allen key? I thought that as well, but just wanted to check I wasn't being a complete muppet first. I'd rather not cut the key but I guess I may have no choice? Quote

3FIDDYZ Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Buy allen keys that have a ball head so you dont have to go in at a 45 degree! Try the bike department at Halfords for ones made by Park... It does look like a bit of a design fault, they could have easily threaded the hole in the bracket where the harness cover attaches too... Redesign me thinks Quote
Husky Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 slightly apologies. Does anyone have the dimensions/measurements/plans of this part? Quote

dcash5 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Why dont you undo the bolt that is in your way and do the one you cant get to up first Quote
Lincolnbaggie Posted August 20, 2009 Author Posted August 20, 2009 Why dont you undo the bolt that is in your way and do the one you cant get to up first Cos the one that's in the way has a nut behind the cover that you wouldn't be able to get to once the cover is fixed down. Just a slight design flaw I think. Quote

The designers arnt always the ones that have to fit the things... All they are interested in is asthetics and form over function!! Dan has obviously has his first cup of coffee now!! Quote
