Pimm Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I decided to clean my pop charger as it was full of bits inside so i went and got the K&N serviceing kit. I washed the filter out last night and it was very dirty and then pre-oiled the filter. I guess using the K&N one if fine ? I have not started the engine yet as for no reason but myself i am a little worried it might be the wrong oil Is the above ok, if not what else can you use to re-oil. Thanks Quote
sunset350z Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 If its good enough for the K&N then its fine for the JWT Quote
Toon Chris Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Do these cars suffer from MAF (Mass AirFlow sensor) fouling after filter re-oils? The oil destroys the MAF on some cars by burning on deposots and causes all sorts of trouble. The solution is to remove the MAF for the first few hundred miles so the excess oil can be sucked out. Sorry Pimm, just asking, I'm sure it is fine really Quote
M13KYF Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 used the K&N stuff on my K&N filter and had no issues with the MAF sensor. Not sure removing the MAF sensor for a few hundred miles is a good idea. Its there for a reason. Quote
jerry3167 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I will be removing my dirty JWT filter very soon, replacing with a brand new filter, will wash and re-oil the old one ready for next time! Quote
Pimm Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 Well all good so far. But one job leads to another On inspection i noticed a little gap where the pop charger fits on via 4 bolts, one of them looked a little undone hence a tiny gap on the seal as i could see daylight through it so i tightend one and then the loose one and it broke off sometimes i wish i did not even bother but i do have two spare bolts so on another day i will have to take it all off and drill out the sheared off bolt and put another one in its place Hay Ho........ Its there for a reason. +1 - no oil fouling issues. The issues normally arise from over oiling. Make sure you dont put too much on (follow the instructions) and all will be well. I have reoilled my pop charger 3 times now (that I remember!) and havent had any issues so far. Quote
