Headlight bulbs

Hi folks, one of my headlights has gone - anyone know a good place to buy these. I didn't realise they were in the region of £160! per bulb.

 

Also, was looking in Technical section but couldn't see instructions on replacement..is this easy?

I would be really really pi**ed off if my xenon went so soon - get onto your dealer and ask how the **** it has gone so soon

are the bulbs for the 350z really this expensive??

It's a 2003 import. It is the headlight bulb. Sidelight ok. Full beam ok.

Do these ever 'come loose' or something. I only just got the car and it got through an MOT before i picked it up. Unlikel;y it went since i got it....

 

I'll try vision bulbs - got a number for them?

also it may not be a xenon bulb as its a import. Xenons are only standard fit in the UK. Might need to take out old bulb first to get part no.

yes a lot of imports have had their original Xenons replaced to get through SVA test, but most have had the original Xenons put back in and are Ok for normal MOT

Do not touch the bulb.

 

Use the same number and wattage as

originally installed:

Bulb no. (Wattage)

D2R (35W) - Xenon low-beam

H7 (55W) - High-beam

or

H7 (55W) - Halogen low-beam

H1 (55W) - High-beam

HEADLAMP (LOWER) HIGH BEAM

1. Turn lighting switch OFF.

2. Open the driver and front passenger window, and then disconnect the battery negative cable.

CAUTION:

After the battery cables are disconnected, do not open/close the driver and/or front passenger

door with the window in the full up position. The automatic window adjusting function will not

work and the side roof panel may be damaged.

3. Remove fender protector (front). Refer to EI-21, "FENDER PROTECTOR" (inner wheel arch plastic bit)

4. Turn plastic cap counterclockwise and unlock it.

5. Disconnect bulb socket.

6. Unlock retaining spring and remove bulb from headlamp.

7. Install in reverse order of removal.

Thanks - when i remove the original does it say on it the type of bulb it is?

I'm not sure now whether it is a halogen or xenon headlight. The working one

seems to give a slightly blue tinge.....

Sorry - one other thing. The vision bulbs website has colour temperatures

against the D2R bulbs e.g 4200k. How do i match that up - presumably written on the old bulb? There are a number of possible 'temperatures' offered to get D2R in the drop down.

You will learn very quickly that anything from a stealer is v. expensive

can help on the exact type bulb i'm afraid which is why you should take the old bulb out to doubley make sure.

Just had alook at the Visionbilbs site. As far as I can see, the price for a pair of H7 bulbs at 4300k is £58.

Colour temperature determines the hue or shade of light, NOT how bright the light is. Brightness is measured in lumens. Temperature is measured in Kelvin. Standard xenon based bulbs are 4300K

If you would go for higher temperature, ie blue or purple-like lights, you will see less. Even if the brightness is the same, the colour is darker and so is the amount of light picked up by your eyes. That's what I was told, not correct???
