albo Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CAR-POLISHER-SAND ... 1|294%3A50 Any good? Ta Quote
Stew Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Looks wise it's the same as my Makita 9227 however I can't say anything about the internals as I don't know The pads will be crap so budget £100 - £150 getting backing plates, pads and good quality polish. Something else to bear in mind, are you experienced with machines? This is a Rotary and could burn the Zeds thin paint pretty quick if you don't know what you're doing. A Random Orbit machine would be better suited perhaps unless you are comfortable is machine polishing already. Quote
albo Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 I sent the seller a question asking if it was rotary or random orbit - I dont want a rotary. Quote
Race Valeting Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I sent the seller a question asking if it was rotary or random orbit - I dont want a rotary. Its a rotary mate, your better off with a meguiars g220 or a porter cable. Have you used a machine polisher before??? Paul Quote
Rob_Quads Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Yup its a rotary - You have to be careful with these as its easier to burn/screw the paint. For ramdom orbit there are really only two options- the porter cable (but this needs voltage converters) or the Meguiars G200 which is essentially the same but converted for 240V Quote
Rob_Quads Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Had not heard of them before but they look good - well priced too. Hmm never liked my rotary myself, maybe I'll go back to the Rotary, always felt I got better results myself with it. Quote
martinmac Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I am afraid that no machine will go near my car unless someone like Paul is holding it Quote

Chris`I Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Or the Kestral Rob. It seems fairly capable. I have a Kestrel and its great. From what I've heard its pretty much a Megs G220 but a bit more reliable and quieter. It did wonders on my Zed with a polish pad and some SSR2, finished with finish pad and SSR1 I really wouldnt go anywhere near a rotary unless you have some panels to practice on Quote
Shuck Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Fro what I have heard and read, the silverline isn't a bad machine. Just to echo the main points from the above posters, if you have never used one before I'd go with a Random Orbit. Quote
