marzman Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 So... what is it you actually do then Martin? Quote

marzman Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 So... what does this boat thing have to do with you? Do you have to tow it ashore or something? Sorry, i dont know anything about this stuff! Quote
martinmac Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Basically, if a ship breaks down and has to be rescued/towed to a safe anchorage there can be a claim for salvage. Its a very complicated legal process but if all the criteria are met the insurers pay out an award based on things such as the value of the ship and its cargo. The award is then divided up using a set formula and after Mr Brown gets his cut ( ) I get some money I have done 15 salvages and have been paid for 7 which is a petty good average. Quote
marzman Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Cool, that sounds exciting! A hell of a lot more interesting than what i do every day Quote

marzman Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 That takes intelligence though Suprisingly (or perhaps unsurprisingly) the majority of people that work here seem half witted! They are very clever, but lack any social ability what-so-ever! Complete mongs...! ...says me - geeking away on a car forum Quote
