Kevo Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 As a few of you may know already, i bought an accident damaged Z a few months ago (april i think...) as a project car. I’m sure a few of you can remember the pictures from what it was like at time of purchase!!!) Well, as the title says... its done! Passed the MOT today, first time . Its cost me a little money as all the parts were genuine (a couple of bits were second hand, but nothing too much). Sooo glad i have it finished now, and i can get on with driving it now! It has cost me all in... about £16000, however i have really enjoyed doing the project on the Z and i have made a really great job of it (in my opinion).... and before you lads put up the old “this thread is worthless....†Quote
Kevo Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 i knew you would be the first one along with that Sarnie!!! Quote
RobD7 Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Great news mate, well done Out of interest, you mention it has cost about £16k, what would it have cost at the time to just buy one? I understand obviously there is a big enjoyment out of building it but just interested to know! Quote
Trev-the-Rev Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Well done. Shall look forward to the pics. Try a few of the traders such as ESR on here for the wheel bearing. Quote
Kevo Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 Cheers Rob. Yeah, give or take, ony put the price up really to put across the point that i didn't bodge it! IanS16 Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I know you said the whole project cost you £16K but how much did it cost to repair? p.s. Well done mate.. looks Quote
AK350Z Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Excellent mate, looks like you're enjoying it! Quote
Kevo Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 Cheers Ian, yeah very happy with it. It was bout £7k to fix all in, that pretty much was just parts and spraying, to be honest, i didn't think it was going to be as much as what it was, however most of the parts i needed were too scarse to pick up 2nd hand, so i had to get most of the parts new (from the stealer) And yeah, it really is a great car Quote
neodc Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 how many miles has it done then ? 6 months ago that would have been a good price.. but now you can find very good ones for 12k. Quote
Kevo Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 37k old boy. Yeah i know i have made a loss on it lol, however ive had it for 8 or 9 months when it was worth that. Then again, i bought it mainly for a project, otherwise i would have bought an undamaged one. I cant think of anything i love more than pulling out the old spanners... well... Quote
neodc Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 i fully understand, when you started i should think it could have made a few k for ya. my 54 jdm top spec got it for around 13, very cheap at the time, it had done 15000 i think, now its worth 10 if i'm lucky Quote
