Trev-the-Rev Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 That is probably trade they have offered you. I expect one of the traders on here could confirm that. IMO bearing in mind the current economic climate, I would say that you should try for around £10500 - 11000. Quote

Ekona Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Have you got like-for-like cover on the mods? If not, then they'll just give you the price of a totally standard car. Apologies if I'm telling you something you've already sorted. Quote

Apologies if I'm telling you something you've already sorted. To be honest you are probably right.. probably offering me standard car. Thanks to everyone so far.. doesn't look like I'm too far off with the first offer then! Quote
Kevo Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Ian Again, sorry to hear about the car. I would definately push for get every penny you can get. I wouldn't settle for £9,250 especially if you spent near on £14k for it. I would try to push it to £11k plus the cost of the extras. You cant pick up any decent Z for £9k, so they should give you more than that, you couldn't buy a like for like one for that money - tell them this! Quote
IanS16 Posted September 10, 2008 Author Posted September 10, 2008 Ok stew, but the repair estimate was £14,000!! so that leaves you about £1,750 out of pocket on a car worth 13,750 Quote
Ekona Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 The best thing you can do at this point is trawl your way through the PH classifieds and Autotrader, and find similar cars. Bearing in mind you'll totally have to ignore the mods, just find a few good examples of cars like yours and the prices. Put all this together in a file and send it via recorded delivery to the insurers and prepare to start haggling. What happened BTW? You ok? Quote
IanS16 Posted September 10, 2008 Author Posted September 10, 2008 Yeah I'm perfectly fine, was just a little winded! You wouldn't believe how strong the Zed is.. before this accident I put her through a building Think GM must be an unlucky colour Quote
martinmac Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Change colour and move on Ian. You have had a bad time and I wish you luck with the next one, I am really glad that you remain upbeat and still like the car. PM sent which I hope will help a little bit. Quote
bigphil Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 price they have quoted is in fact trade book price, retail would be between £11,500-£12,500K Quote
IanS16 Posted September 10, 2008 Author Posted September 10, 2008 price they have quoted is in fact trade book price, retail would be between £11,500-£12,500K So is it trade book price that I am after? Hey, every little helps if I'm after a blue car Quote
Ekona Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Don't get a blue one, I've got one and you'll curse me! You basically want enough money to go out and buy exactly the same car you've got now, which is why you need to see what's out there and what other people are asking for theirs. Quote
