bigphil Posted July 29, 2008 Share Posted July 29, 2008 Eventually we got round to painting a standard engine cover to see how it would come out. This one has been done in the Ford Focus ST Orange Pearl. The textured finish of the original cover has been removed altogether leaving a perfectly smooth body finish. These can be done for £90 in any colour not just the 350Z colour range. Cost will be £90 on an exchange basis. Just another alternative to the carbon etc. Comments welcome. I did mine in yellow myself, but with the time it took waiting between coats, sanding, painting, waiting, sanding, painting, waiting - repeat as necesary, then if you can get someone else to do it, I would Watch the Cusco stickers on the brace though - those braces dont half get hot after driving for a while, and if you lean on the sticker when its warm, it will come straight off, wont it James? Purple does actually look nice against yellow - my grounding kit has yellow cables and looks fine - but there is so much black surrounding the engine cover, its this you have to stand out against rather then the body colour, so maybe purple would look lost in a Z bay? Oh, and I guess you could do the battery and fluid covers to match, or maybe to much! colour choice is a very personal thing, having said that Shire has used an orange theme under the bonnet of his Gunmetal and it looks stunning so the one we have shown would go very well.
