Idrinkbeer Posted May 15 Posted May 15 (edited) First off ,hi, im new here so forgive my lack of knowledge, I hope its OK to ask this , I have a work customer who has offered me for sale their 2016 370z nismo, the car has just over 29000miles , in very dirty condition but to not being used for two years, so basically it needs a very deep clean and serviced, they are offering the car to ne at £20 k , i dont want to insult them but would like to be sure its a fair price, im after a classic type of car for long-term ownership and sunny weekend fun. I understand the 370 is more old school compared with today's motors, I have a gr yaris and a m240i but would enjoy something that won't age ( if ya know what I mean) so really im asking for the forums views on this . Many thanks, and im loving reading up on these cars. Edited May 15 by Idrinkbeer Quote
ShortPaul Posted May 15 Posted May 15 (edited) Hi and welcome from a Nismo owner, omg she's looking very sorry for herself 😭 I think they are great cars what's the story behind it and why has it been left to get like that? Edited May 15 by ShortPaul Quote
Idrinkbeer Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 I think its been neglected due to illness and general life events, the owners are really nice people with a hell of a lot going on in their lives, iv looked a bit deeper and it seems to have a very high tax rate compared with future nismo cars unfortunately. ShortPaul Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Oh that's sad ,illness is not good,I don't think it's a bargain at that price. It definitely needs to be rescued maybe offer 18k Quote
Idrinkbeer Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 Yep i had it in my head £15k due to servicing etc. Quote
ShortPaul Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Yeah go for it buddy,I have never regretted buying mine,I bought a 2020 Nismo it's a bit of a garage Queen 3k on the clock Quote
Idrinkbeer Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 (edited) Im still tempted but im thinking its 5k to expensive, esp considering its in the 700£ plus road tax bracket and hasnt been used for two years. Edited May 16 by Idrinkbeer Quote
Andy_Muxlow Posted May 18 Posted May 18 That is such a shame! Hi and welcome along, I as above would be offering £12-£15k I assume it has no MOT either? There could be problems underneath also as its been sat for 2 years... However they are fantastic cars! Quote

Looking up its history it might have had its last mot 4 years ago which would lead me to believe its off road three years at least, id worry about unseen issues like moisture in the engine, corrosion on bearings perished rubber etc. I know with bikes its better having higher miles than none. Keith D Posted May 18 Posted May 18 (edited) Looking rather sorry for itself. If it hasn't run for 2 years I'd want to check oil, remove the plugs, scope the bores if you have the kit, turn it over on the crank by hand, pull the fuel pump fuse and crank and build oil pressure, then fire it up before I gave a penny, but if it starts and runs 18k seems reasonable. Nice project to rescue, a detail will work wonders. Edited May 18 by Keith D 1 Quote
Idrinkbeer Posted May 18 Author Posted May 18 I still suspect there could be more issues hiding due to lack of use. Quote
Idrinkbeer Posted May 19 Author Posted May 19 Checking things further it seems its last mot ran out in April 22 so seems the nismo has been sitting outside unused for 4 years, I think this might dramatically lower its worth, lack of service history etc. Quote
Idrinkbeer Posted May 21 Author Posted May 21 (edited) Brake disks look like they need replaced so that would be new pads also, looks like there is a fair bit of work returning this nismo to safe roadworthy condition. A project, but one that could bite you back I suspect. Edited May 21 by Idrinkbeer Quote
ShortPaul Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Leave it then buddy 🙂 sounds like you are talking yourself out of it Quote
Idrinkbeer Posted May 21 Author Posted May 21 (edited) I actually havnt, I just messaged to let them know its more than I anticipated due to requiring new tyres a new/ repaired wheel, possible replacement bushings, full service and all fluids, missing service history etc. I had said id be interested as I need a project and the owner came back saying its a 20k project. Idrinkbeer Posted May 21 Author Posted May 21 (edited) I like the idea of a project though. The above motor is in really good order, I think if I could get the abandoned nismo and take time yo work my way through it I could make it my own, if ya know wot I mean lol Edited May 21 by Idrinkbeer 2 Quote
GranTurismoEra Posted Tuesday at 06:43 Posted Tuesday at 06:43 (edited) Even though its been outside it just needs running in again. Get it cleaned up probably change that steering wheel loads of those for sale or retrim. Change discs and tyres (£2000). Full Service including gearbox and tranny (700 or so) and away you go. 16k max because you can get higher miles 2015 facelift for as low as that in Winter. 20k gets a lower mileage. People selling 2017 onwards Nismos at 26-30k with average miles are delusional. Theyre not fast sellers Its a Japanese car not a German. Ive ran a Civic in the early days with literally no oil lol. Opened it up at 160,000 miles car was clocked. Cleanest internals the mechanic has ever seen. Edited Tuesday at 06:47 by GranTurismoEra 1 Quote
Idrinkbeer Posted Tuesday at 10:47 Author Posted Tuesday at 10:47 (edited) That's my thoughts exactly, id think it would need a bloody good going over indeed, new tyres new battery brake pads and disks, all fluids ( with high quality oils) and realignment, a deep clean top to bottom etc Edited Tuesday at 12:42 by Idrinkbeer Quote
GranTurismoEra Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Yeah youre looking at the cost of a runaround to get it back to condition. Your overall spend including cost to buy should be in the 20k region. If you did need to sell you wont lose too much as thats what they tend to go for 1 Quote
Idrinkbeer Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago That's my thoughts, Im thinking its value is in the 15k mark, and thats not allowing for something unexpected. I cant get this car out of my head as I know if I can get my hands on it I can get it back into shape and make it something personal that iv put my sweat and tears into. I tend to hold onto bikes and cars for a long time so something like the nismo does do it for me. Quote
