Help? 370z Exhaust System Issue.. Not sure what to do?

Hello!

So slightly weird situation! So I'm selling my car (Never had any issues with it, and not in any big rush to sell it) been passing MOTs fine, Nissan filmed underneath it and it has been fine etc. Anyway had a buyer (They're still interested, I've mentioned you guys to them), buyer asked for MOT so had no issues with doing that as anything it's ever needed was done immediately. Came back with rust and specifically the cats. Now I've gone to the other garage (I use one for MOT, another for Repairs and Nissan for servicing) I use near me and they have said it's the shields on the cats as it passes emissions fine. They did say it will probably will need a new exhaust at some point in the future and again was fine with that so asked them to get a price from Nissan for full exhaust system. Nissan came back with one price I said go ahead, then Nissan said o wait that doesn't include cats and they are £1,000 each + VAT. I nearly fell of my chair (As did the garage I use). Just after an opinion on what you guys think would be best. I have kept everything OEM, but Nissan quoting £1.4k for the exhaust system (Without cats) then £1,000 each + vat for cats that seems extortionate to me.

What do you reckon? Is there a cheaper place to get OEM parts or should I be looking at a different exhaust for it at this point? I'm just worried if I get high flow cats which I've looked into that it would fail an MOT but I guess wouldn't know until they're on? I assume all Mods are going to be HFC to? Literally sat here scratching my head so confused what to do!

I love the car, so want to do whats best, especially for the new owner to but it's like the biggest conundrum ever. I swear the car doesn't want to leave as it blew it's radiator the second I put it up for sale and nothing has ever gone wrong with it apart from a door actuator before that!

If I wanted to keep it stock, I'd rip the rotted cat shields off (they can't fail on rot then can they) and then get an exhaust from any decent exhaust centre.  I wouldn't touch a Nissan dealer with a barge pole because I wouldn't want to be paying their hourly rate.

If its the CATs themselves that have rotted through and not the shields, I'd buy a used pair of CATs (off ebay or someone breaking a 370z)

If I'm keeping it, I'm fitting HFCs and a sports cat back £1800 ~ £2000 budget.
