Hi all.

My car is booked in for its mot this week but I'm a bit worried it'll fail on the state of the 'W' brace, which (like most) is badly corroded and looks a state!

Is this checked as part of the mot? Can I simply remove it before hand if it is?

Thanks in advance!

Have a quick google/search on the forum, a few threads up about the W brace - it seems to be a part of the older Zed which is rotting on quite a few cars now. Removing it does not fail you, there are also aftermarket options if you want to replace it altogether.

It won't fail an MOT as its not part of the suspension - it just firms up the chassis.

Thats what the tech who did my service told me before I had it replaced.

He also said it was so rusty he could put his finger through it.

I didn't take it off for the MOT and everything was OK

Mines was the exact same and passed no problems (about 3 weeks ago).

It's nothing to worry about.

Well she failed, but not on the W brace. Track rod ends both excessive movement.

Get those replaced and back on for retest!

Oh as an advisory: slight corrosion of components underside of vehicle
