Hi all

So I'm looking to buy my first 350z.

Is a 4 owner 350z anything to worry about? Or is it better to look for lower owners? I'm looking at 07/57 and 08/09 plate cars. If it has a Full service history does it matter about the owners?

Thanks

For me it would Depend how quickly it's changed hands. If it's in quick succession id be worried there is an issue with it and people want shot before it causes a big repair bill.

I bought mine from an owner who only had it about 6 weeks. Had to sell because of redundancy I think.

Wouldn't worry too much as circumstances change for people.

As PageyUK said, as long as its not in quick succession, shouldn't be a problem.

I'm sure others will chime in shortly, but personally I wouldn't worry about it too much. 4 owners for a 8-9 year old car isn't that high, especially when you consider it's more of a fun car than a practical car, i.e. people may have to switch due to financial reasons (baby, house, etc...).

Only thing about having more owners is a higher chance of someone along the "chain" slacking on taking care of it, but then again if it has a FSH then that's a good start :)

Oh one other thing to consider I guess is resale value. It could make it a less attractive prospect for some - obviously it was to some extent to you else you wouldn't be here asking.

Sorry, I like to ramble on... In short, I'm not the most experienced at buying cars, but I'd say don't put too much weight on it. If it looks like the previous owners have looked after it, then go for it.

I think I'm the 4th or 5th owner on mine and it's been great!

(Looks like I took too long to type and 2 others have already replied so I'm just repeating their sentiment  )

Thanks for the advice guys. The one I'm looking at has been owned by him since 2013 so it looks ok.

This is what I'm considering at the moment, saving a couple of grand with a 4 owner car or paying the 2 grand extra to get a 1 owner car.

My old 370 has had 5 owners and its a 2012 car ! Number of owners wouldnt put me off if there was a valid reason for such , like there is with my old car

If the current owner has just bought it and wants to sell it then maybe alarm bells would ring

Initially the low previous owners figure does look good but I'd much rather four previous owners that maintained the vehicle well than one that spent all their money on buying the car then had to skimp on maintenance.

Overall condition/servicing and price of the vehicle is most important, low previous owners is nearly a bonus as this doesn't guarantee condition.

You often see Porsches with lots of previous owners as its for some a bucket list car, couple of years then sell it on. I'd imagine the 350z and 370z fall into that category for alot of folks, ie for a good example not overly cheap to buy, tax or insure etc. Circumstances change and a more sensible vehicle is needed.

Buy on condition every time

The mileage is neither here nor there nor the reg imo so i'd look at the cheaper one, book it into a specialist for a good check over/service as bet the spark plugs havent been done also budget for oil gallery gaskets and forget about the warranty they rarely cover much and wouldnt cover a clutch anyhow

Also that '08 model needs new compression arm bushes and thats £500 or thereabouts

Oh yeah good shout. Check https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ as Rich did.

And man, the 57 owner(s) really didn't like the idea of buying new tyres!! :scare:

P.S. Tyres (MPSS) would be about £600 for all corners.

Pointless question, each car is different. I'd rather buy a car with 100k & 8 enthusiast owners than a car with 50k & 2 people who have no idea what they're doing.
