Tubbys tidy up

Hello there,

I've always done builds for all my cars and although I intend to keep the Z standardish as my cruiser I thought I'd catalogue the few bits and pieces just incase anyone's interested!!

So I bought the car a month ago. It's a black revup and I love the facelift interior and exterior lighting, well worth the extra tax imo! I looked at a few cars and all were rough so decided that despite it looking chavvy the mechanicals and body condition on this car were worth the asking price.

So here she is on the way home. 3ft springy aerial, limo tints that were so old it looked blue from inside, OEM Rays with the centres blacked it just didn't look particularly nice imo. It does however have a cobra sports exhaust which sounds lovely and looks standard enough for me.

But if a wash when I git home to see just how scratched etc it was

Overall it's in great condition though it will benefit from a front end respray at some point due to all the stone chips!!

After lots of thought I decided to refurb the wheels and paint. Not wanting it too OEM I thought a nice bronze would look good. Having a mate who owns a body shop helps as he also machine buffed it and matched the door handles to the wheels

Massively happy with the results and adding an RDX stubby that was enough for now!

Next I had a few 'niggles' I wanted to sort. Starting with the rear strut brace cover which was scratched. I painted it the same bronze as the wheels but without laquer to keep the OEM satin look.

Next I bought a full leather Renovator to have a go at my dirty and fading interior. I have no before Oictures but believe me it's night and day. The kit came with a cleaner, renovator colour polish and a protector and cloths. Absolutely brilliant kit and has brought my seats up as new!

Today's job was to remove the rear wiper. It's not so much bothered me but it seems a touch pointless and ruins the lines of the car. I guardX the Windows anyway so seems pointless keeping it!!

Massively happy with how the cars turning out now and really falling in love with how it drives!! Missing my other baby so had to do some shameless photo whoring. My baby CRX turbo track car (currently in restoration/rebuild).

Nice job

do you have a link for the leather renovater kit?

Personally I think Zaino Z9 is possibly the best one there, I don't like shiny leather and this stuff gives an absolutely amazing matte finish exactly like new. Use a nice soft bristle brush to apply it, then a microfibre to wipe away any excess.

I'm guessing a kit might have some leather paint/dye in there to go over any cracks, obviously the Z9 isn't for that.

I'll find it when I get in and message you mate. Yeah it does have a renovator dye in it which is great. To be fair it is matte I just buffer it up again afterwards :)

How much is the k9 out of interest. This was 17quid and recommended by quite a few mags etc. It definately did the job for me.

Got some tein springs on the way now and I'm going to do the carlab rear light thing as I don't think the standard lights match the LED tears at all

  • 2 months later...

Have a few bits lined up to sort now. Firstly I decided to give myself a birthday present in the form of a mines front lip: it's only test fitted but I'm hugely impressed by the fit already.

Not a bad fit straight out the box

Next I got my wheel spacers fitted. Not great pictures but you get the idea

Also got myself a set of tein springs and some oils to do a gearbox change. I'm getting there slowly
