Ceramic pads ?

Hi,

Adrian at Torquen has hawk ceramic pads listed for road car, I am thinking of fitting these to oem discs on my 370, anyone any experience of these for road use ? I like the idea of reduced / no dust but I'm concerned under normal driving there might not be enough feel through the pedal, not too concerned about a bit of squeal when cold ( but not too much noise )

Any thought / advice appreciated.

I've got them with OEM discs on the front of my 350Z and have found them really good. They don't squeal, work from cold, have good pedal feel and have not let me down during spirited driving on the road either. I had Ferodo DS2500 previously which were also excellent but with more dust and would squeal when reversing.

What's the typical improvements over normal pads?

I can't really comment on that as mine were past the point when they should have been replaced when I bought the car. I only really drove the car with the DS2500 which I found to be a great pad. I've not found the the Hawk PC to be in any way inferior to the DS2500 for fast road use.

Zero. Ceramic pads have ZERO performance over a semi metallic pad. Don't race on them, don't sprint drive on them.

Well, not exactly Zero. They have less brake dust, they're quieter and have a longer life span... probably not what I'd call relevant improvements for a sports car mind. Interesting reading:
