Zedrush Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Hi its the dreaded me I need to get some wheels that I can use for track and for winter and do a little drifting in, bit late i know Im keeping my GT-S volk for summer show only. So question is, do I go for: 18" or 19" what type is best for track and general purpose, split of light weight And what tyres would you suggest and size. really appreciate some help here guys thanks Quote
sinbad Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Standard Rays 18" Look good and very light, will also be the better size on track too i guess. Quote

I'd suggest a 1 piece with no polished lip to get you through the winter. Rota are cheap and light despite not being forged and can be purchased from our own Bigphil in an 18". Look a lot like Nismos too. Quote
sinbad Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Ive always liked the CE28N's and the Time attacks would look amazing on your car. Dont know how they'll stand up in winter, but they will be light for track use. http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?mode ... rodid=2318 Quote
Kev946 Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 You could consider 17's and go slicks. That's what I run on the Cossie. I buy secondhand slicks from a motorsport supplier. Much cheaper than even cheap tyres and the grip is in a different league. Quote
Zedrush Posted December 19, 2007 Author Posted December 19, 2007 hmm rota these look nice http://www.rotawheels.com/d2.php love time attack but not winter wheels I dont think, My Gt-S are getting mirror polish lips, so definatly wont be coming out in winter Quote
GIXXERUK Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 what supension are you going to be running ? oem ? coilovers ? lowered this will alter the stress sent to the wheels/tyres i'm not sure about smaller wheels (not much experience on this) but would smaller wheels mean bigger tyres so more flex/give on the side walls ? kev will probably know Quote
GIXXERUK Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 those rota's do look sweet , esp the black centres Quote

It's worth the extra tyre wall flex, (minmal), for the weight saving. Also if you go slicks there is only limited sizes available and 17's are much easier to get hold of. Quote

Smaller wheels means lighter wheels as well as lighter tyres! Wheel offsets as i have heard can also effect the wheel weight. Small difference but it all adds up.. Quote
