SlickRick Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Has any done or know of a swap that's been done? 4-4.3l v8 from Lexus seems like a much cheaper option than an LS swap and keeps me in Japan (more importantly to my soul😂). bit worried that most of the UZ engines about are quite high mileage though Quote
Jetpilot Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Why would you bother, they arent really much more hp than an uprev v6 Quote
SlickRick Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 I just did a bit more research and realised!! 1 Quote

TT350 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I'm sure Top Secret in Japan did a V12 swap in a 350Z. Still a Jap engine. Quote

TT350 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I tried 😂 Hey, nothing ventured nothing gained. 1 Quote
Ekona Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Because a 300bhp V8 will have more torque than a 300bhp V6, and more importantly it's got the soundtrack to match? If you could do the swap cheap enough then it'd be a great swap, but sadly I don't think it'd be any cheaper than an LS one. V12 swap would be perfect! 1 Quote
docwra Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 UZ is a prime candidate for FI though, very strong internals, revvy and decent displacement .......... but this just add to the grief. 1 Quote
TT350 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 (edited) I tell a lie. It was a G35 V8 twin turbo that Top Secret did. They did a V12 Supra though. Edited September 7, 2015 by TT350 1 Quote

TT350 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 VK50VE would be interesting; The VK50VE is a 5.0 L (5026 cc) V8 engine with 390 hp @6500 rpm and 500 N·m (370 lb·ft) @4400 rpm and redline is set at 6800 rpm. Bore x stroke (mm) are 95.5 x 87.7 and compression ratio is 10.9:1. The valvetrain is a dual overhead cam (DOHC) design with a continuously variable valve timing control system (CVTCS). The engine also features Nissan's VVEL valve timing technology.[ Quote
SlickRick Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 See I was thinking it would be fun to have the v8 lump and then force it... But would be it really be much different to forcing the 35DE though... Quote

SlickRick Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 No, I've not. I'm just looking at routes to improve my 350gt at the mo.. Quote
TT350 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 No, I've not. I'm just looking at routes to improve my 350gt at the mo.. You'll really enjoy the 350Z when it's FI'd. Mine is and I love it. It really overcomes the inertia of the 1500+ kg and just transforms the experience. Woosh! 3 Quote

I was a lucky boy and got my kit second hand with absolutely everything included for 3500. I think for a brand new kit you're looking at double that. Quote
Ekona Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 And then there's the necessary supporting mods like brakes and suspension... Bloody expensive to do, but worthwhile. Quote
