  1. I've been looking at getting a personalised plate and found one for around £1400 all in (VAT and transfer fee) which is the lowest I've found it. But then I started thinking about another plate that would be better. I contacted one of the 3rd party sellers and they said the plate was going to be released by the DVLA in around 3 months.

Is there any way I can grab the plate before they do as I assume they're just going to buy it, stick 50% on the price then try to sell it to me. There must be a way of me getting it from the DVLA before them? Will it go to a public auction?

I had the same scenario. Got told by a reg company that it was coming up for sale by dvla and they would secure it for what worked out to be around 3000quid if I remember rightly. I found out VIA the dvla website when it was being auctioned and bid online in the live auction. Won it for 850 + fees + vat which came to about 1300quid so a lot cheaper than going through the reg company and more fun too lol. If you need more advice then pm me and ill happily phone ya for a chat :-)

  2. I'm in Bournemouth, but go to Taunton a fair few times as my father in law lives there

I was in Bournemouth the other weekend and and OMG police were everywhere. I lost count of the amount of fights and people they carted off in their van. Was not a good atmosphere. During the day it was fine tho!

Haha I live local to bmouth and its not always that bad, they must have known you were coming

  3. Popped out on my lunch break today to be presented with this: :scare::scare::scare:

One of my work colleagues had managed to attack my car with her audi badly scuffing/scraping the rear corner of the bumper :(

Luckily she owned up to it (that said the amount of damage done to her car and the streaks of orange paint across it would have made it hard to hide!!!).

Im waiting to find out if she wants to pay for the work to be done privately or go through her insurance company. I suspect the later option as her car will cost loads to put right too.

Can anyone recommend a good body shop near Poole, Dorset that will be able to do a good job with the paint match?

  4. Mine was purchased with 2 years servicing missing but I'd spent a lot of time talking to the owner and he put it through a p3 before I purchased it. Was low milage though at 42k on a 54plate so thought worth the risk, also I got it cheaper than others of same year and milage so thought worth what little risk there was baring in mind it had been put through a p3. That said I'm overly cautious and put it through another p3 a year later getting my mechanic friend to do the work and will now follow the proper schedule.

  5. I used to work in sales, not in cars though, but selling one thing is exactly like selling anything else. As the recession hit sales got hard, mainly because bonuses are easy to deny and justify the denial. Targets got harder to hit and the bar continually pushed just out of reach. Tbh it really does depend on the management of the local branch. All company HQ's will look for the same type of stats, set the same type of targets etc, so it's up to your local branch what it's like. If you have a good team then it's easier to hit branch targets and achieve bonus levels, also you find repeat customers coming in and you can pick them up for a good sale. On the other hand if the branch is full of lazy a'holes then you might have a miserable time.

Key things are product knowledge, knowledge of the system you use to sell and a bit of the gift of the gab. The first two take time and training, the last one can be learned but it's easier if you already find it easy talking to people.

I did like working in sales but found it to get tedious once I had learned the majority of the info that interested me, that and my manager was a complete mongtard.

If you already work in sales sorry to have bored you with what you already know

    Thanks for the info
