    Flywheels

I've heard good things about the JWT one, only reason i went for ACT is that I got the flywheel for a steal off eBay. I've got it on good authority its best to keep these things in pairs, so i'll be hunting down an ACT clutch.

    Flywheels

Just off the phone with Jap Performance up near Aberdeen. Clutch/flywheel (which they recommend doing at the same time) is a 7 hour job, and they say you should change the engine oil. Quoted £438 all in!

    Flywheels

Funny you should post that, I'm just away to phone round a couple garages for a quote on fitting a lightened flywheel. Was going to ask the same question, clutch at the same time, worth it?
  4. I saw 3 yesterday in Aberdeen just on a 20 minute walk! Blue roadster, GM with full Nismo kit and 20s and a black roadster.
  5. Got to love Edinburgh. Had an ex go to uni there and visited every weekend without fail for about a year. Infact, you've just just inspired me to head down this weekend. 2 hours door to door from Aberdeen just about.
  6. Where is everyone staying? Fort William on the Saturday night?
  7. I've got light smoke on my fronts and dark smoke on rear quarters and rear. Guy that did them did them as a homer for cash, works for a local tinter and said anything forward of the b pillar is illegal and if i'm caught he didn't do them, I bought it like that! Also got a mate in the police who said anything front is illegal but the amount of paperwork involved for such a petty incident its not worth it. [/url]
  8. More pics (off camera phone so excuse the quality)-
  9. Sorry I never made it down. Mixture of too much alcohol last night, didn't feel safe driving down this morning from Aberdeen, and really wanted to get the 2nd bung out of the new exhaust.
  10. Bung off. Hacksawed a small slither out which releived the tightness and from there just needed some gentle persuasion. Job done. Damn its loud.
  11. Folks, selling a single T in the Park ticket, with camping and bus travel from Aberdeen (if required). Its my younger brothers, he has moved to London and cant manage to get off work. He's looking for face value, £180. Info here http://www.tinthepark.com/
  12. Haven't tried the mole grip, i'll give that a bash before butchering it completely then prob just file it down a bit for a looser fit.
  13. Thats my job for today, prob just get a hacksaw blade and cut a section out of it.
  14. No mate, soaked it in wd40, left it for an hour, had me and a mate tugging at it with pliers and wouldn't budge. think i'd pull the exhaust off before getting the bung out. i'll have another go today but its not looking promising for a clean operation, think i'll have to butcher it.
  15. Ha sorry to disappoint, there was no chance I was managing it in my parents garage with a jack and two axle stands!
  16. Any theories on how to get the bing out? Tried wedging a stanley kife blade in to get some give but no chance.
  17. Update - hours driving later (with one bung out cos one is well and truly fudged in there, i fear i might have to Dremmel it out). Its loud, f*cking loud! You know its loud when the shopping trolley Corsa/Clio crew are breaking their necks to look at it and OAPs simply shake their heads. Really need that other bung out though. My ENGINE SERVICE SOON light has just come on. Coincidence or is this the same as engine warning light?
  18. Ha ha sure I am judging by what its like already. Took a road home I knew I'd not end up stuck in traffic on, but its a 30mph so just sat at the limit in 5th, radio on, windows up and A/C on, couldn't even here it. Stopped at lights in town and pulled off to about 3k rpm...... ahhhhhh that'll be the new exhaust then!! Had to take the main shopping street home to get to the flat, as you do, and its enough to make old ladies and schoolboys cry!
  19. OK folks, ESR exhaust now fitted. Here's my write up - 1 - Jack up car and secure on axle stands 2 - Take one look at the job, grab the yellow pages and ring round some fitter 3 - Pay a local garage for an hours labour and enjoy, cut free but wallet slightly lighter!! I bottled it! Got the car up on the jack, had a go at the bolts on the backbox and realised when I was searching for a blowtorch that this was beyond me. Took an hours labour at a local exhaust/tyre place (Law's Tyres for anyone local). The owner said of the exhaust - What a piece of kit, not sure if I should fit it or play god save the queen on it. The guys fitting it were well impressed, one slight issue they thought the midpipe should maybe be slightly more angled as it currently rests on the a beam under the car, but there appears to be no stress on either part, no wobble or rattle so looks good. I've got a few pics during the installation but waiting till the sealant has properly set before I go ragging it but first impressions are great. Its loud if you bury that right foot but at idle and just constant speed you'd hardly know it was there. I've still got the baffles on but they'll be off later on. Pics -
  20. Just a thought, is a good idea to coat the bolts with anything before putting them on? Threadlock or anything? Or anything I can do to stop future ceasing issues?
  21. I'll give it a bash yeah. It'll prob just be youtube links although my mobile has a recorder, not sure the quality. Think my Dad has a dictaphone.
  22. Pretty sure i spotted shiny new bolts in the package from Phil, wont be needing those old ones again in a hurry. Although I'm drawing the line at blowtorching! Just laid the full thing out on the grass outside my work, its a beauty. Even managed to draw a crowd. Wait till they hear it on!
  23. Cheers Phil, I'll start it tomorrow. Trying to find a guide of sorts but no joy yet.
  24. Folks, took delivery of new cat back system from ESR today. Got some funny looks at work carrying a coffin sized box round the car park. Phoned the garage just down the road, Nissan, a local performance mob and even Kwik Fit, none wanted to install it. The performance lot said 2 weeks wait and 3 hours at £52. How tricky is an exhaust to replace if you've got the right tools and a weekend to devote to it?
  25. I managed my plenum myself and i dont boast to be mechanically minded, just need to take your time. There's a really good guide on here that I followed and after a few teething problems (aided by the guys on here) it works a treat. Prob been on 1000 miles so far without issue. Sure the guys on here will backup its not a hard job, just take your time.
