  1. I think we have to remember the UK is a small county compared to others and although the industrial revolution started here we are not running mills and factories on coal anymore. So comparitively speaking our emissions are a drop in the ocean compared to the big boys and girls with their big emission pants. Car manufacturers might not be able to sell in the UK after 2030 but doesn't mean they can't to other countries who don't give a stuff or have not signed up to the relevant paperwork?(I may be wrong of course?) I expect Aston sell more cars to footballers and the like abroad than here like Bentley and Rolls etc? Maybe everyone will see what happens with Porsche and their synth fuel (sounds like a Blade runner thing) but I know companies like Mazda don't appear to be rushing to knock out EV only stuff, they still like petrol. All we can do is sit and wait? I expect there will be more reports about the evils of EVs but they are here to stay so we have to accept them. I even see a need for those Citroen Ami leccie milk floats that 16 year olds apparently can drive!! But I also see companies like Porsche maybe jaguar and Bentley who accept they have to preserve their legacy /classic cars for posterity for no other reason there is a lot of money still in it? If all the Porsche 911 owners are suddenly told sorry we don't support you anymore, that's a lot of customers to lose and regardless of how good your ev product will be they will go under.
  2. Of course but I thought during these pandemic times we have to be careful with chewing gum? Maybe get your dad to chew it though to ensure compliance?
  3. Blimey if araldite doesn't hold it , get the screwdriver out and put some 6 inch screws in there, duct tape for added strength.
  4. Nice one well done. A garage would charge you hours labour for that I think?
  5. Haha excellent and I thought I kept everything Alex! I remember the 2008 Hoon with your famous fire breathing monster, but according the to properties file on the pictures 5th September 2009. We couldn't go the following year as Lucy was due a few months later so we just saw you guys off and we had a relaxed Scottish trip instead. Happy times and great people.
  6. That's right Colin I remember he was about 18 or so we couldn't believe he had a car like that?!!! Oh yes that black zed looks familiar
  7. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9029557/Mankind-contact-alien-Galactic-Federation-Israeli-official-says.html The Defence rests its case M'lud! I remember this story way back from the 1990s in a documentary called The X Files! Which is probably where he got the content for his new book!
  8. We live in hope but I fear it will be down to politics rather than sensible alternatives. I personally hope for efuels just to keep my fleet alive but lets see.
  9. It's been a while since 2009 and we did lose a lot of good photos from the forum care of photobuckets greed, however I was looking for a way to transfer tapes of my daughter onto the laptop and I found these pictures on the memory card! That year my other half was pregnant with impending child so we had the Suzuki Gran Vitara sans Zed , anyway these were taken at Fort Augustus, some familiar cars and faces - probably not on the forum anymore? Yes we were still good club members meeting up with you guys whilst we had a Scottish hoot or our own. Enjoy and sorry for spamming the server!
  10. I admit I didn't read all of it as I got so fed up with all the pop ups and adverts every 2 seconds!! (Reading on phone) .
  11. The only reason classic cars get off (for now) are the powerful and rich higher ups who are members of or involved in the classic car movement. Eventually classics will be kicked out like everyone else. Obviously I am biased as a lifelong classic owner I love the tax and mot free lifestyle although still think the mot bit is mad! I wonder if they do positive earth or 6v tracking boxes especially for classics?
  12. Same here my fave car was the MK1 mx5 it just worked was fun and honest. They got it right. I still have my old Beetle for the same reason. I love my Stang it's bogoo 400 something bhp and I can't get that down with the pzeros they just lose grip but it's the torque for me and that endless pulling power it just covers long distances with ease? All those YouTube 800+ bhp stuff will be wee'd on by EVs anyway. Last time my beetle was on the road sept 1990!!!
  13. Ok I just read this and let's just say I don't feel very hungry! So chicken from beef....... https://www.theguardian.com/food/2020/dec/07/lab-grown-chicken-tastes-like-chicken-but-the-feeling-when-eating-it-is-more-complicated
  14. I was thinking what an odd ball year? Pandemic, clowns in charge of powerful countries, looming Brexit, electric cars and now monoliths! Apparently first time in 800 years we get a proper Christmas Star too? What a time for aliens to say hello? How is 2021 going to compete with this? Will we finally get flying cars.
  15. It's part of the craze for mindfulness which has dropped in to everything these days? You know a 30 minute break whilst the car charges and you spend money on very expensive coffee and magazines in the available shops? Will there be an ACE cafe alternative also? Earth friendly type cafe with paper cups and non animal products uber expensive latte and vegan breakfast overpriced no doubt? A section for all the E bikers too? Damn that will be a boring place not an oil leak anywhere to be found!! Just to be clear I am taking the mick before I upset vegans or E Bikers! I was almost tempted by a Chinese copy E lambretta myself last year? It will be fine we are just being luddites....
  16. It was you all along!! Has it taken you 2 years to fly and cement them in around the world? Well done and we all thought it was a couple of monkeys in space ships?
  17. It's the small.superglue tubes I have used like fixing broken plates etc? Didn't know it expands but never had an issue? I don't use it for at least a few hours after joining but have glued my damn fingers to it in the past.
  18. Turps is fine. Just a little on a rag it's just to remove grease that's all. Then a clean rag after. The gorrila stuff is about £2.99 a pack lasts forever only need a tiny bit but hold it in place with your fingers for about 2 mins.
  19. Yes it will anything to get rid of any grease or contaminant? Paint thinners, nail varnish remover have a look around the house.
  20. Any PU based sealant should work but takes time to set. I would use Gorilla glue super glue. Clean both sides with meths or alcohol, dry off and put a tiny bit of glue on the rubber side. Press and hold in position for about 2 mins then you will be fine. Close the boot for a few hours and it's done. I tried all sorts of glues over the years and they always let me down but this one actually works. Good luck
