  1. Enjoy but watch out for the Lorries and speed cameras! Its a dog revising for work stuff I know but think about the junk you can write on your CV afterwards - if they wanna pay for it - make the most of it - most companies dont giv a stuff do they!
  2. I dont know about Canon gear but I would make sure you have a number of memory cards - they are so cheap now but most importantly batteries!! Rechargeable or if it can take alkaline AA's for example as spares etc? I guess its a pop up flash? Pop up flashes are ok for close up work but I am guessing in a big hall your better off with a proper external one - again they are cheap these days if you ignore the own brand ones. Practice first at home so your used to lighting conditions and dont forget to adjust the white balance on the camera to take into account the kind of lighting you will come up against - sorry if I am teaching you to suck egs here! Enjoy the show and can you post a few pics here when you get back?
  3. Already done - its been defluffed and carefully stored!
  4. I used to work shifts also - 12 hour days and nights - 3 on 2 off 4 on 2 off etc then every month I got 8 days off - which was a mini holiday - but I cant hack nights anymore so had to give it up! Now its 7:30 - 16:00 (yeah right!) but at least you can plan your life a bit better - trouble with shifts is when your off mid week your mates are working! Trouble with weekends is you try to cram so much in you dont get a rest do you? When you do take a weekend off from everything you feel guilty because you feel you should be getting on with something? Incidentally I did check the back of the sofa this morning and no I did'nt see Saturday stuffed there next to the 20pence piece?
  5. Aye your right I have to play mind games like I used to when I worked shifts- on Monday morning just say only 4 days left to the weekend - Tuesday only 3 days left etc etc ..it does work Friday is weekend start official!!
  6. First weekend in ages I have not had to work? Friday I actually got out on time and it took me just 1 hour 10mins to get home (from Wales) which is a first in ages - Friday night was excellent nice and relaxed wind down for weekend. Decided to have the weekend off - no work on house, no car washing no shopping no nowt! Just chill - well I must have missed something because its Sunday evening and all I can think about is work tomorrow - already? Where did Saturday and Sunday go?? Did it fall down the back of the sofa maybe and I did'nt see it? Stan
  7. know what you mean mate - just hose it down with water to wash the roadsalt off and get that bird sh** off sharpish don't worry about the way it looks - at least until this pants weather is over! In a similar vein what ever happened to that self healing paint that Nissan released in '05??? Not heard a sausage about it since? http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/w ... 745093.ece
  8. Indeed your right I was trying combine the Italian / Japanese doodar since we are on Zed forum! Asahi does tend to give you lots of wind though! No sea jokes from me folks I could'nt do that job - Respect!
  9. wow so your all seadogs then? So it was that kind of management meeting then Martin? Hmm interesting.... Do you have your Zed onboard and a Gal in every port ideal for on-tap sandwich provision? Going back to Butties ...... Ciabbata - cut in half lengthwise - lightly butter - slices of Mozarrella or similar melting cheese - cover with a few Sundried tomatoes, black olives, Chroizo slices and whack under the grill or in oven for a few mins till cheese starts to melt - fab stuff! They taste nice when cold also- so you can make them night before but best when eaten fresh on the day and warm. Adjust with with other ingredients such as green peppers - mushrooms ? Experiment thats the best way? I feel hungry now Dont forget a glass of vino or Asahi Beer.
  10. wowsers thats cool - thanks Matey - will be using that in future - of course your every surf is logged through the firewalls ............ Top stuff
  11. Can I offer an alternative? I'm all sandwiched out! Recently going for healthier option for once in my life.... Sliced lettuce, chopped sweet red peppers, slices of Brie (Asda cheapo range is best!) Grapes, cherry Toms, Red pepper Houmous a good sized dollup, light sprinkle of Balsalmic Salad dressing on the veg. Thats it - make it the night before keeps fresh in the fridge and by the time you have it the next day the cheese has reached the correct temperature and its luuurvly - fills you up so stops you snacking on crap in the day? Working so far - just mess about with the ingredients and add or take stuff away - treat your self to a bacon and egg butty once a week to remind you of the lard aspect! Just experiment - so if you want to add a Beer side order go for it! This is part of my cost saving plan to afford the luxury lifestyle that a Zed demands!
  12. Some of work hard in front of a pc and wish they were elsewhere!! But my master business plan to take over the World though the medium of Cake shops is still on hold! (Incidentally how was your high flying business exec meeting the other morning Martin?) - Where you thinking out of the box, in total synergie and picking those low hanging fruit??
  13. You will find plenty while you are down there I am sure .... Just ask her if she fancies a holiday in Ewloe on the return trip? Monaco? Blimey you must be minted! Enjoy it and plan your petrol stations carefully!
  14. Used to have one of those myself but never went camping in it - had to get a Ditchfinder before I went camping for first time last year in Le France - dont ask!
  15. Of course during my lunch break! Ah yes lunch break I remember I used to have one of those once?
  16. Well exactly my point its about who controls this info and what they do with it? Its great having a joined up set up where you have easy access to all data in one place for example - I mean the DVLA licensing online doodar is great - no queueing for 3 days at post offices anymore BUT!!! There are lots of ways and commercially available methods to gain access to info... this worries me - they cant do anything right in this country except breed frikkin Chavs!
  17. Am I missing some trick here - is there a way I can hide that MASSIVE picture of a Zed at the top of this forum - when I am in work - sometimes I dive in and out when I want keep myself awake!! Is there a text only version I can activate - bit less obvious - even if you minimise your window when you post a reply etc etc it still brings up the whole screen of course?
  18. I'm with Steve on this one - its a good idea but they will **** it up big stylie - I worked for the public sector once for 9 months - yikes - makes you scared how slack security and personal data can be - I mean if your running tests on new system builds you make up the data dont you - you dont use a copy of the real data do you!! No brainer! But if you have nothing to hide then no worries - its more about who controls that data - oh bit of an X files conspiracy job here.......
  19. Aye Dan I know what you mean I had run 2 MR2 mk3's myself - Living the life of an MR2 owners is quite liberating really its surprising how ingenious you have to be especially when you forget your not in your van when you get a shop at Costco! Fortunately some Japanese engineer decided that the cubbies behind the seats will fit perfectly a half crate of wine! To be fair I have not really had a chance to see the mini - boot in the Zed softtop - the coupe looks quite cavernous to say the least ! I have to admit to looking at MR2's again as a temp precursor to Zed ownership - sorry guys - could be worse I could be looking at Rex's again Damn been spoilt in the Ditchfinder on last camping trip so not thought about it in a zed in the same way, Thanks Martin - yup another tick in the box ? Cant take the portable fridge though ! Oi !! Less of the camp humour Stuey! Ragtop people are special we love the smell of that diesel wagon in front or the 1982 Austin Montego belching and coughing up crap! Its part of the fun! Dan did you also discover that if your caught out in the rain on the motorway in an MR2 as long as you drive above 50ish it does go over the top not in the cab! Sorry last daft question - spare wheel is under the boot I guess??? full size or space saver?
  20. Ok so bottom line anyone been on holls in a Zed ragtop abroad? Does it have enough boot space to accomodate say a 2 man tent and the assorted camping gear - cooker, clothes, pots etc? I'm contemplating a trip to France again this year and if I decide to get an older Zed (much cheaper than an '07) I may just go for it! Sooo other than the problem of catching your bumper on the ferry ramp - any other pitfalls? Has it attracted the wrong kind of attention for example from Le Scroats abroad? Or Mit Policia? Does it sink in the grass on a field campsite?
  21. Very slick looking number Rochdale Old Road in the Bury Metropolis about 17:50 Was that you Andy? Or is your Blue?? Blimey they are crawling out of the woodwork now.........
  22. Probably - was so shocked to actually see one of these beasts!!
