  1. Sorry Mike! I cant comment obviously, but its a lot less restrictive than the OEM pipe- not sure what the two "wound" parts you can see are called, but they are a lot smaller than those on the OEM. I would imagine that it would aid the gas flow slightly and maybe change the tone a little- thats what I was hoping and bought it on the assumption that I didnt exactly have much to lose as I only paid Chris 40quid for it!
  2. Guys, I bought this off Sinbad back in June and have never got round to fitting it, so its basically in the same condition as when I bought it. I dont have any pics to hand, but Sinbad may still have the ones he used.... Its basically a straight swap for the OEM one, but is more free flowing and should in theory give a bit more growl to the zed... I think I paid Chris £40 for it, so if anybody wants it, they can take it off my hands for the same. Cheers Matt Matt
  3. Well, the zed finally went to its new home on sat'day afternoon. Was very sad watching her drive away, its not often I heard how she sounded when driving off so it was doubly gutting when THAT noise echoed off the houses.... However, the newest addition to the Jones fleet was purchased yesterday and very nice she is too! Ive not taken any pics of her yet, but will try and get some. Ive gone for a nice colorado red focus ST, which is in cracking condition, basically looks like new! Obviously coming from the zed it was imperative that the power was suitably matched, so ive gone for a morego 290 one... Basically that consists of a miltek zaust, modified air intake, hi flow cats and an ECU remap, taking power to, yup, 290bhp and over 300lbft of torque... She doesnt like damp/wet roads though so a judicial amount of throttle control is required. She is VERY quick though, maybe a tad quicker than the zed, and suprisingly agile in the twisties as its had a suspesion tweak. The noise is quality, a real bassy throb and ive never been in anything that pops and crackles so much on the slightest lift of throttle!! The only gripe d have is that she is a touch boomy at certain revs, but i found that simply using a few more seems to help So all in all im well chuffed with her- she drove me home in the dark, snowy, wet weather yesterday, and took me to work this morning with no fuss. The part that I was dreading the most hasnt as yet materialised, that being the fuel consumption, which was on 28mpg when I got to work, so a couple more than what I got in the zed. (I did however get 19 when I took her for the test drive...) Sure, it aint no zed, and its a bit strange going back to fwd, but so far so good and a worthy replacement for the zed if anyone is thinking of getting a hot hatch. I will try and get some pics up for you all to see and hopefully she will be allowed to show her face next spring at one of the meets! cheers
  4. yeah, thats the one, but i saw a twin turbo one, which ive never seen before
  5. Guys, Was just "browsing" and came across a 2003 skyline GT-R V spec. damn link isnt working though...!!! anybody have any info on what these are all about? I know its the new shape, import only skyline, but that about it. Low miles, decent price-ish..., over 300bhp maybe...?? hmmmmm...
  6. Thanks for the replies guys Ebized, I know what you are saying about trading in, it really is much easier if you can do it that way, but in the case of mine, i just wasnt prepared to take the hit of trade in value. Works the other way too- id much rather buy my performance car off an enthusiast rather than a garage. Thats just me though which is why, in a way, i cant moan too much about what happened yesterday! Ive sold my cars in all sorts of ways in the past, the most noticeable was my S2000 which was a whole cash sale! The chap who bought it off me though was spot on and as good as gold, but i must admit i did get some very strange looks from the bank when i took the money in to bank! Anyway, after a very stressful morning yesterday, the day ended well as ive managed to sell my car to someone else. The guy was spot on and he's given me a holding deposit for the time being so i feel a lot better about this sale! not sure at which point the car was sold- my endless enthusiasm and knowledge of the zed maybe...or was it the chance encouter with an E36 M3 evo whilst i was taking him for a drive... his comment "he aint getting past, is he!" sealed the deal I think... so after a very mixed day yesterday, it all ended ok. I will be sure to direct the new buyer onto here as he was sound as a pound. It will be a sad day when she goes but i have to remember my reasons for selling... Matt
  7. thanks guys like i say, if he wanted to make an offer would have made more sense to do it there and then, surely! Even if the one he made would have been sensible, i was harldy going to sack off going to work to drive 10 miles back to the airport! crazy
  8. Nah, thats not really my cuppa tea to be honest, but thanks anyway. Im just annoyed on so many levels from taking time to sort out the sale, to arranging a hire car and to sorting out my next car too, so its not just me its put out. I just dont see the point of acting like that and im a bit annoyed for being so naive in a way. Thing is, from my last car sale I have no reason to doubt the integrity of someone coming that distance. Obviously thats now ruined it for anyone else who may call and be interested in this car or any other i have for sale in the future. Im not daft when it comes to buying and selling, but there is a degree of trust involved and when people just blatantly abuse that, its hard then justify accomodating others in the future...
  9. Not a happy bunny.... Washed her and filled her up with juice. Got all the docs in her nice leather zed folder. Sorted time off work and then drove to liverpool airport to meet the buyer 3 mins looking at the car..."nah, its not for me" "oh" I said... "yeah, got to go, ive got to catch my flight back to Ireland" says he. and that was that...until 25 mins later when id driven to work... a phonecall "sorry for wasting your time...what if i offered you £...." needless to say i polietely declined, which i would have done even if he offered me a sensible amont of money. im not sure what these people get off on, but i never expected to have my time such royally wasted like that. Ive sold a car to an irish chap before and he was a great guy, stuck to his word he did. But this idiot My fault I know for expecting it to go smoothly, but im still annoyed that people can waste others time like that. Retired he was apparently. Obviously the concept of someone actually working is a distant memory to him. Ive now got to let the chap I was going to be dealing with down now too. Honestly, some people. In a way im glad he hasnt got my car. he doesnt deserve to own a zed over Matt
  10. afraid not Mike, its going far faaaarr away! the next one is red though so i'll still be a shining beacon!
  11. thanks mate! might be going for something a bit different than i originally planned though..
  12. sorry ebized- i forgot to put everyone's name on! no offence intended! have to keep you all posted on the wedding... will post some pics up of the new acquisition next week...
  13. Well guys, if all goes how it should, im afraid I will be waving a sad farewell to the zed on Monday... I know ive only been on here for about 5mins but its been a great forum and ive met some great people over the last few months! cheers to Martin for organising the Lakes meet and for an entertaining evening full of beer and wine! Mike- sure i'll see you round Wrexham- probably at the petrol station! And to all those who made the Wales run such a great day out.. Beavis Stuey Andy C Squarehead Tilly Little Miss Sinbad Lomoto I have no doubt that I will return to zed ownership in the future- its been a cracking car, the best ive owned to date but my desire to try something new means its time to sell up (oh and the fact it will be worth about 50p next summer if i carry on piling on the miles ) I'll be sticking around if thats ok and i'll hopefully post up next week with my new purchase. Im sure it wont be to everyone's taste but one thing is for sure- its pretty nippy! Thanks again guys Matt
  14. Blimey Chris- thats some good numbers you have there mate! Bet she shifts now! Thats 205bhp per ton! Only 10bhp off an E46 M3's figure! yikes!
  15. Oi! Jonesy's car history... Ford Puma > Civic Type R > S2000 > DC2 Teg > Celica GT4 > 350z Thats 2 hairdressers cars in there! Looks can be deceptive though- the S2K was one scary bugger in the wet!
  16. for a gloomy monday morning
  17. ....................................... ........................ (Martin) (Matt) (Liz) I know the plane is going the wrong way, but Liz is so quick, shes already got to where we were heading and is on her way back....
  18. Crikey Kuro- impressive! Filled up to the brim, my DTE will say ive got over 400miles, but I usually fill up before light comes on. mpg on mine sits at 26-27mpg, which I think is pretty good for such a big engine. As for seeing how many miles I can get from a tank...im not that restrained!
  19. red or zed

    MPG....

Mine was stuck on 25.1 after sunday's run ask anyone on here and i think you will find that isnt half bad considering... 26-27 mpg all other times. and i dont hang about either- eh Martin?!
  20. Blimey! I didnt think my 'lil ol red zed would spark so much conversation! in response though, first off, im afraid there is a seperate fund for the wedding so thats not going to affect my car status! I can afford to keep the car but reason for sale is to balance out mileage and depreciation- its something ive done with all my cars and now is just the right time to sell. the price reflects what I believe its worth, purely cos of the miles. selling it to someone who can use it as a weekend car means it'll keep some life in her for a while yet! Thanks for all the comments though- whatever I decide to do with the car I can assure you all of two things.. 1. If you'll have me, i'll be sticking round on here! and 2. I'll make sure I get a worthy replacement for her! Cheers Matt
  21. Thanks guys Not going to go any lower than that as there just isnt any point financially Will be updating ad on PH in a couple of days. Would prefer someone on here to have her though- they need to at least be half capable of driving her in such a way so as to keep up with Stuey at the next meet though!
