  1. very nice martin, really suits the roadster! looks as good as it sounds!
  2. ive decided that i do miss the zed, rather a lot! getting bored of torque steer! imports are looking favourable, esp considering the recent road tax revisions...(just a shame i gotta wait until nov as greenlight dont cover imports and dont wanna cancel policy mid term) still, Wales '09 isnt that far away...
  3. Turbo cars can be great fun, and certainly give a greater sensation of speed. BUT...I dont think theres anything better than a good N/A engine. The zed is possibly one of the smoothest cars ive driven in terms of power delivery. And I certainly wouldnt say its slow- outright acceleration maybe isnt epic, but the way it gathers speed is monumental. As has been said, its more of a GT, which has its + and - points. Take it as a package and its hard to beat. The first time I drove it on a b-road, it felt massive, maybe too big. However, over time I found that it could be hustled along at a fair old lick, no matter what the road. It also reminded me what it means to drive smoothly, something id forgotten since owning an S2000. My current steed is quick, yes. And accomplished. But...I do miss my zed terribly. Its a wonderful machine and in any case, if you really dont think its that fast, just open the windows and listen to that glorious bellow. Tunnels have never been the same since...
  4. 2 x 90 min sessions... depends how you drive as to whether they slow you down or not. Would imagine if you drive like a moron they might but show a bit of mech sympathy and some well honed lines and i rekon they'll be wanting you to push on...
  5. ive booked myself onto this at oulton. too good an offer to refuse! ive just paid 99quid to take my own car there!
  6. bad news chris...none of either really!!! didnt want to risk being kicked off for in car filming although my mate did do a couple of vids of me along the pit straight. im hoping some of the ph guys will have some pics...
  7. not sure when the next one will be- maybe in a couple of months? Up for trying somewhere a little different- thinking maybe Anglesey, Donny or Oulton again
  8. cheers martin! you would have been fine mate- got taken by a pug 106! got speaking to the chap after and he had a 150bhp gti engine in it, fully stripped out, track slicks and an lsd. made me feel a little better....
  9. Guys, here is my writeup from Saturday. It wasnt in a zed, I know, but boy was it fun! The Build up… I decided only a couple of days beforehand that I was going to do my very first trackday. Ive spectated at Oulton Park a few times now and from the first time I drove over the bridge and into the grounds, I knew I had to drive there one day. Ive been promising myself for years now that I was going to do a trackday, but id always managed to find an excuse not to- these ranged from being able to afford to do one, through to having doubts about whether my car was ‘fit’ to be taken on track. What I mean by this is the niggling thoughts one has at the back of their mind when the are going to be tracking their pride and joy- what if the brakes aren’t upto it? What if its been too long since the last service…the list goes on… So what was different this time? Well, for starters my car had just been serviced so I knew all was well in that department. Apart from the brakes. Id had some mintex 1144’s on order for about 3 weeks and one of the provisos for going on track was only if my new pads were fitted. They were- the day before, and bedded in for about 150miles (one of the benefits of a long commute!). So, with the knowledge that my car was as fit an healthy as it could possibly be, out came the credit card and in went the booking… Considering I only had 2 days to wait, I could barely sleep for the 2 nights running upto the event. Sat morn came and I was awake way before my alarm, and ready to go by 7.15. the tank had already been brimmed with v power the night before, and id invested in an electric tyre pump so was ready to sort the pressures before I went on track. The potential show stopper… The drivers briefing came and went, with only one thing ringing in my ears, and a nagging doubt in my mind…towing eyes. “No access to the track is allowed without a towing eye fitted.â€
  10. lol- knew you'd be around to comment! valid comments there tho mate- price is a little high for an import but the mods would i guess amount to quite a bit, although we all know mods dont add to value... was basically a question as to what the model was really as i didnt know much about the s-tune model. O/T- were you at donny the other day? saw a post on the other channel with some pics and a mention of your name and the presence of a white DC5 with a big black spoiler made me put 2 and 2 together and get.... ?
  11. yeah, saw that! think that may mean lowered suspension though... like i say, the mods do sound tasty, but why do i always have hesitation when it comes to imports... Sinbad...!
  12. Guys, http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/354339.htm not very well versed on all things JDM, but this looks very different to the other s-tune which is for sale on here. Anybody care to shed some light on this one. Certainly looks smart and sounds like its got some good bits added... Matt
  13. unless you are a complete numpty like me and having never driven one before, get hooked on the sound of the engine and the sheer pace of the thing! damn these prices are getting lower and lower for zeds!
  14. I particularly like the 17" non leather alloys- must add a nice suppleness to the ride!
  15. Do you still have the standard wheels and spoiler mate?
  16. im not drinking with you again Martin......
  17. can I come for a beer...... (although after a quick peek in the classifieds and at the prices...i wannanotherzed!)
  18. Its depressing seeing such a great example for sale with such low miles compared to what mine had 12 months ago! Take the wheels and spoiler off to get some money back on what you have spent and it'd be tempting me back into 350z ownership!
  19. The ST doesnt have an ST Kev, well, not standard anyway. my ST has had some suspension work done though- a morego powergrip suspension setup which consists of revised front suspension geometry and stiffer and lower springs fitted. http://www.morego.co.uk/browse-performa ... 2805+on%29 Theres a bit more info on there, but basically the suspension tweaks act to assist in putting power down, particularly when exiting a corner. Ive not really had much of an opportunity to really test this, as the weather hasnt been great, but whilst at first the car did feel understerey, i think ive now re-adjusted and can get the power down a lot earlier. On certain sections of my route home, there is nothing in it compared with how my zed handled, apart from a litlle more body roll. At the end of the day the zed is a sports car and the ST is a hothatch so you cant compare them, but IMO, and, granted, with the tweaks my ST has, there is very little in it and im very happy with my purchase, which is the main thing! I wasnt intending on upsetting anyone on here with comments on the ST's performance compared to the zed- I loved my zed and drove it how it was designed to be driven!
  20. top gear track suits some cars a lot more than others. The official line is that the ST was 10secs quicker around the ring than the RS, but, to be honest, who cares! A lot depends on the driver too, and as we are on the subject of top gear, I recall when Mark Webber was the star in a reasonably priced car and when Clarkson commented "how come you didnt understeer around the hammerhead?!", cool as a cucumber, webber proclaimed... "its called throttle control, mayte!" so, so true! if anything IMO, thats something any zed driver should have in abundance!
  21. thanks guys you know, its suprisingly tractable even in the lower gears. Sure, if you wanted to, you could easily spin the wheels up, but thats true with any car. Im not sure about everyone else, but i never do "0-60" and very rarely boot it in 1st gear. For me, its about how a car performs when its rolling, and she really does fly esp when you are in 3rd gear or higher. 6th gear acceleration at motorway speeds is much much better than the zed, but like I say the ST does cheat a little as it has a turbo! Also to add that my old civic type r was much more prone to wheelspin then the ST, and that only had about 150lbft torque! Sylvester, you can pick them up now for sub 13k if you try, even with mods like mine Chris, yeah mate, no worries, we'll have to see if we can meet up at some point- id like to have a gander at your teg too! Martin...I couldnt possibly comment mate , but I may take her out at the weekend and see how she fares on the open road, rather than the motorway!
  22. Hi Guys, Apologies for the picture quality and the non-cleanliness of the car, but this is the zed's replacement... As you can see, its running slightly lower than std on Morego's suspension kit, and, engine wise its got the following: - Miltek cat back system - Hi-flow sports cats - ECU remap - Airbox "tweak" to assist airflow Supposed to be running at 290hp with over 300lbft of torque. Butt dyno suggests she is a little quicker than the zed but obviously the turbo helps here. Handling is pretty good, although it is a bit wierd going back to FWD. Traction is the dry is awesome, but the wet needs a little more car, although all you get is understeer really. So far then, so good- it goes like stink, sounds the nuts and pops and crackles on the overrun just for fun, is refined on the motorway and im even getting a bit better economy then the zed, which is something i wasnt expecting! I cant compare it to the zed as they are very different cars, but I can say that im not dissapointed at all and I really do think the ST is a worthy replacement for what was the best car id owned to date, and id highly reccomend one to anyone who is going to go back to getting a hatch Anyway, I will try and get some better pics as the one above doesnt do her justice Cheers
  23. Provisionally sold to my good friend my stric (with written permission off mrs stric too....)
