I asked them to check their database to see if I had more than one pre-order in my name. Here in the US there is a strong suspicion going about that dealers are submitting dummy pre-orders. Two dealers here in SA knew that I had an interest in the GT-R (I'm on their "lists") and both have all my personal information in their computers since I've bought cars from both. Neither one of them would take a pre-order when I asked. So I was curious to see if I had some ficticious pre-orders. Some folks have been estimating that possibly as high as 80% of the US pre-orders are ficticious -- submitted by dealers so they could do their auctions and other big $$$ sales schemes.

I'm quite confident that there will be no improvement in the woeful customer service most of us receive from NMGB and the dealers. If NNGB is anything like NNA then customer service is about as low as whale poop in the Mariana's Trench. I sent a GT-R question in, and there was no attempt to even address the question (I got canned response #3 -- check the GT-R website). Then I asked them to read my question and address it (I got canned response #22 -- ask your dealer). I give up, my question never got answered, and all they did was try to shuffle me off to Buffalo.

Car & Driver (May edition) has best numbers yet: 0-60 - 3.3 seconds 0-100 - 7.8 seconds Quarter mile - 11.5 seconds @ 124 trap Stock US spec GT-R with about 3,600 miles on the odo. They also ran at Buttonwillow and the GT-R bested both the Vette Z-06 and the Porsche 911 Turbo.

Don't forget to have some women's items! Too often we get stuck wearing guy's items--baggy and loose fiting. The women's items tend to show off a few more curves. And of course there would be 350Z-UK thongs! LOL...

Yep, they do ship internationally. Setting up a storefront is a piece of cake. Just design some graphics (you can have more than one), and then pick the products assigning graphics to each. I like it because you don't have a single one-size fits all kind of thing. Everyone can choose different styles to suit them, and you can have a variety of products. It's no hassle, no inventory, and no shipping work. It's really a win-win arrangement. So now I expect to see a 350Z-UK store soon!

LOL... I love it! The old school muscle cars could definitely get your adrenaline pumping! They didn't go around corners to well, but they did go pretty good in a straight line.

Goat = Pontiac GTO -- first came out in '64, and the '65/'66 models were real killers. It was the heyday of the US "muscle" cars. Triple deuces = 3 two-barrel carburators with a progressive linkage; when you put the pedal to the metal, you had all three dumping in fuel. Each carb had its own air intake. Officially, it was called Tripower. The stock engine was a 389 cubic inch V-8 -- the bore to 421 was a very common modification. Mine also had a Hurst 4-speed close-ratio gearbox (the gearbox to have during the day). She had enough horsepower and torque with the 4.73 r&p to rip standard street tires of the day right off the rims (literally shred the tires). Mine also had ram air intake -- kind of high-speed forced induction. My '65 was Mayfair Maize (an light ivory/yellow) with a black interior. Now back when I was 20, I drove a '65 Goat (bored to 421 ci with triple deuces--had a 4.73 ring and pinion for the drag stip; with slicks). Back then it was catch me if you can, boys...

One interesting thing that seems to be happening here in the US is the price gouging is starting to fade already. Dealers who were tacking on $25,000-$30,000 are starting to drop back to a $10,000-$15,000 add-on to MSRP. They were starting to see their customer base disappear--their customers were going to the dealers selling at MSRP (or at least a smaller add-on). So the initial GT-R feeding frenzy looks like it may be waning a bit. If the UK market follows the same pattern, my advice is hang on for a couple months and let the market start to settle. By the time June rolls around and the first US GT-Rs start to appear, the market picture may be completely different. I gave one of my local dealerships (where I've bought a few Nissans) the opportunity to meet the deal I was getting through Grubbs. My thought was if you want a loyal customer, you too have to be loyal--it goes both ways. They didn't even respond, so I sent them an e-mail and said, "see ya, I'm gone." If they get enough of those, they will eventually see the light.

I won't start patting myself on the back until the day the keys are in my hands. Too many things can change in the very iffy GT-R market. The dealership I finally located is 280 miles away in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, so I'm doing the whole deal remotely via phone, e-mail, and fax. I'm expecting to get the deal signed and sealed Monday or Tuesday. This dealership seems pretty reliable -- they sold their entire first allocation via special order at MSRP (at least that's what was contracted). Thery're one of the very few US dealerships to follow Nissan's GT-R sales guidelines to the letter. I'm thinking that Nissan may reward those dealers with a much larger second allocation -- I'll be number 5 in the second allocation. This dealership got 5 or 6 GT-Rs in the first allocation.

Well, I'm in the process of taking the GT-R plunge. I finally found a dealership who will do a special order at MSRP. So, if all falls into place, the long wait for a second US allocation GT-R will begin next week. Black Obsidian with black leather... They have 6 colors for the 2009 US GT-R: red, ivory pearl, black obsidian, gunmetal, titanium (a light brownish color), and super silver (a premium finish at $3,000 extra). There are two interior color choices: black leather and gray leather. The two models are base and premium; with premium, you get Bose, heated seats, and side curtain air bags. Options for both models are: floor mats ($280), i-Pod interface, and cold weather package (whatever that is, I have no clue). Other than that, both models have it all.

Of all the 350 colors over the years, it's one of the best. Of course I'm biased since I own a San Marino Blue (night blue) 350ZR. I still favor the '03 Brickyard, but a well-polished SMB in bright sunshine is stunning, and it's still a somewhat rare color by comparison with the others.

Now, now, we're not all provincial bumpkins; only 75% have great difficulty stringing more than five words together in a coherent fashion. The other 25% are at least moderately literate. Did you know there is an Army unit that is authorized (that offensive little z just for you) to wear British uniforms? They're Scotts Guards, and the unit is officially called "The Queen's Guard." So there you have it boys, the takeover began long ago. The Queen has been escorted (no u) by her Guard here in the US. Oh, I'm a graduate of a university chartered in 1693 (before that nasty little revolution) by William III (Duke of Orange) and Mary. The main academic building which is still in use today was designed by Sir Christopher Wren. Since I took English there in the Wren Building, it must have been the real thing, right? One other item: we already have roundabouts in the US; we just go round and round in the other direction. The clover leaf is far more interesting though for going round and round. Tea? I expect all of you to be emigrating soon! Cheap petrol does have its advantages; you can spend that extra money on Z parts.

100% correct! Shopping for the last car, it was between a Blue Slate G-37C and the SMB 350ZR -- I got a much better deal on the ZR.
