There are IT questions being asked everyday - just though it would make sense to keep it all in one place....that's all...forget I asked...

There seems to be a lot of questions related to IT (Information Technology - computers software/hardware) I have worked in IT for 25 years, albeit in sales, but I am still MCSE/MCSA and have a Bc's Hons in Computer Science. There are a few others on here that are equally/more qualified. Can us tekkies have a subforum? I cannot emphasise this enough - If you are in a cable area (eg Virgin) - you actually get advertised speeds as they use fibre and not crappy copper - there is no apparent contention ratio

+1 Tube sucks at rush hour, in fact it sucks at any time - you inevitably end up standing up the whole journey, holding on to a disgusting thing that looks like a snooker ball on a spring to stop you falling over and always paranoid about having your pocket picked as you are crammed into the train like sardines in a tin. Chris - unrelated to the thread - but the last two email notifications I got from this thread points me to 370z site and not 350z site - I know they are in essence the same, but my usual login doesn't work...??

BT told my girlfriend she had to turn her BT router off each night then back on in the morning to cure problems with wireless dropping off....what a total crock of s**t. I have worked in IT for 25 years and never heard such drivel in all my life. BT really are clueless and really dont give a stuff about their customers - good for you for swapping! Although Sky uses BT lines they manage them a lot better to give you better speeds etc.

The 335d M sport is actually faster than the Zed - my mate had one and could always pull away from me - be warned they come with run flat tyres and loads of people had problems with cracked alloys because of this.

(PS thanks for all the tips on Paris - we got engaged etc) Anyway, my new misses is a teacher, she teaches textiles and fashion design etc but now she wants to setup her own label etc. She is very talented design wise, but hasnt got a clue about the business side. Although if you sit within 5ft of the router, dont require QoS or VPN, then most are about the same

Dead right, a heck of a lot depends on how reliable your signal is and it's strength. I've got several here, a couple of Netgear's, a cheapo generic one supplied by a now defunct internet company and the one that AOL provided plus a couple of WAP's from Netgear and Linksys. I'm using the AOL one, a Thomson SpeedTouch right now, because its a bit easier to setup but I see no major difference between any of them Pete There is a lot of difference between brands - most dont have QoS (quality of service, eg for video streaming), a lot dont support VPN's, a lot dont have any form of firewall, most dont have parental control, most only have one aerial (the one I detailed has 8 and gives the best range out of all we have tested), most are single band not dual band etc etc
