I know a song with that line in it! :)

  3. Been reflecting on your shudder issue you describe as coming from the middle of the cockpit. I do not recall the prop (shaft - not the propellor noting your other interest  ) being a ZED problem but maybe something connected with that is the source of the shudder?

As others have said, check everything to do with the tyres as from previous postings on this site and elsewhere they are normally the first culprits and need to be thoroughly checked, particuarly if they are still the originals and with 15k they are, shall we say, well-run in. Do all the wheels look undamaged and/or is one wheel/tyre looking newer than the others? A hard hit on a kerb or similar might have knocked something out of true that only becomes noticable at high speed.

Hope the supplying dealer gets it is sorted for you whatever it is and you can really enjoy the car.

I seem to remember that when I was looking for a Zed one of the things to check was that the propshaft didn't clunk, as being of carbon fibre construction they could be damaged if you don't allow the car to come to a complete stop before either engaging 1st or reverse, could be worth checking this out as you say the shudder comes from the centre of the cockpit. I would also still get the wheel balance checked as I once had a car that shuddered at 100+ and it was a rear wheel out of balance, and would second what the others have said to check. Hope you sort it.

  4. I'm not unduly worried about it, but is this a common thing on these cars, when starting from cold (stood overnight) the revs shoot up to around 1500rpm and then I get this light rattle for a second or so which sounds very much like the hydraulic lifters pressurising, it's not a heavy knock like ends, also it won't do it again unless left for example overnight.

    Any thoughts.

    Cheers Mick

  5. I'm pretty sure that they would have to 'pull' you to give a ticket and it's highly unlikely that traffic cop would be right up your a**e, more likely someone trying to goad you into a race....

  6. On our intranet at work someone at RR Derby is selling a 54 plate and I think its a GM, 36k miles and they are asking £17.5k ono for it, I'm sure the ad said that its just been serviced as well, if you are in that area or interested I could get the info\phone number tomorrow for you, I can't remember if it's a GT model though but I have a feeling it is.

    Cheers Mick

  7. Ok here goes:

First you don't need to activate your phone voice command, thats the mistake I made, as long as it 'paired' to the bluetooth adapter thats all you need.

It does not read your phones address book you need to load the numbers\names to the cars own phone book, as so: this is for the voice command operation:

On the steering wheel press the 'voice' button

    say 'STORE NAME'

    the system will ask

    'THE NAME PLEASE'

say the name (Smith for example)

    the system will ask

    'PLEASE REPEAT NAME'

    say the name again

    'SMITH'

it will ask you for the number, say the number in blocks of three or four dont try to do the whole number in one go, after you have spoken each block of numbers wait for it to repeat them back to you, then do the same with the next block of numbers until all the number is in, then say 'STORE' it should then tell you that the name 'SMITH' is stored. Unfortunately this is how you need to enter all the numbers.

To make a 'Voice' activated call using just the name is as follows:

Press 'phone' button on steering wheel for 1 second.

    say 'DIAL NAME'

it will ask you 'THE NAME PLEASE'

    say 'SMITH'

the system will reply 'SMITH' (in your voice incidently)

    then say 'DIAL'

it should then tell you 'the number is dialled'

thats it, if you get stuck PM me, if you know the numbers off by heart and have stored them you can just tell it to dial number and go through the same routine but names is easier.

    Cheers Mick

  8. Well I have been trying this stuff out and can comfirm that it will still do the job 36 hrs later after applying the paint, got to admit I was a little sceptical with the claims but have to say it does 'what it says on the tin' it has taken a few applications of touch up paint to the scratch and the chips but it is getting harder to see them.

  9. Sorry if in wrong section - you may have seen my post about the brick through my windscreen and then ending up on the bonnet and leaving a few chips and one small scratch, I have just touched it all in with a 'touch up' stick which has obviously left paint proud of the surface, when dry I was going to 'wet & dry' it flush and then repolish it, what is the minumum grade can you recommend that will do the job?

    TIA

    Mick

  10. Just got back from a weeks holiday down Kent, first night there week last Friday, some kind person thought my car would look better with a brick through the windscreen at 2:45am needless to say the said person\persons had gone by the time I had got out to look, luckily the windscreen absorbed most of the energy and it only slid down onto the bonnet leaving it with a few light scratches, have yet to decide what to do about them, took Autoglass 4 days to sort me a screen out.

In all my years of driving i've never had a windscreen replaced, buy a Zed and i've had 2 in about 3 months!

  11. I'm not sure from your post whether Belgium was a non-starter or not but I often go up to Adinkerke for fags and then onto De Panne for a few hours and a bite to eat and that seems a nice friendly little place, might be worth a look.

Will keep a look out for you if you are over the Dover area as i'm down that way from Friday night!

  12. My 407 GT Coupe has the same engine as the Jag (V6 2.7) every extra you could wish for, goes well, good on fuel, very quiet and comfortable, it's not a 'twisty' section car but a great cruiser... well I like it! :D
