  1. Take it to any competent garage and get them to track it up with the steering wheel centered. Someone has tracked the car before and not bothered to check if the wheel was straight as they did it - it's surprisingly common and one of my pet hates in a car. I charge £20+VAT for laser wheel alignment so don't get ripped off, its a simple while you wait job. HTH Dan, You read my mind. I called a local company earlier who told me exactly the same thing. They quoted £22 and said it would take an hour. Ideal Craig.
  2. Is that a semi-synthetic?
  3. What synthetic oils do people use on here? I've had a look at the FAQ section but would also like "real world" reccommends. I've used Mobil 1 and Fuchs Silkolene oils before and seemed to work well. What is the general concensus on SAE ratings? 5W30??
  4. Thanks for the replies. See...I knew you guys wouldn't let me down.
  5. Well, just got back from my 250 mile run home from picking my car up from Louis. The traffic was ridiculous , the car was great!! Two hours after leaving Louis I was only 59 miles away. I'm glad I don't have to do that everyday!! Some queries for you Zed experts!! 1. I want to replace the front bumper reflectors and know this is a bumper off job. Has anybody done this before? Is it a one man job? How many fixing points are there? Is there an online guide anywhere? 2. The car tracks true but the steering wheel is a couple of degrees out and sits slightly turned to the right. If I was to get the geometry / tracking checked and adjusted does anybody know if it would pull the steering wheel back into alignment? 3. What have people got there rev shift indicator light set too? Mine is currently set to 6500 rpm. I've noticed that this car feels slightly quicker than my last Zed as I sold that with only 5000 miles on the clock and was probably still a bit tight in the engine. The fuel economy was amazing. My Prodrive Impreza would have done about 21mpg on that journey but my Zed did 30.4mpg. Feels great to be back!! Craig.
  6. I have also just got a good insurance quote from the AA. I normally pay around the £550 mark and the AA just quoted me £453. It helps being a member I would assume!!
  7. I might look into a leather retrim for the seats and see how feeble the stereo is. My last Zed had the GT pack with the uprated BOSE stereo system and it was the biggest pile of rubbish I had ever heard in a car so I'm not expecting anything better from the standard one. I'm not planning much more after that at the minute as I'm not really into the whole Halfords shop window theme. Craig.
  8. I'm getting that excited new car feeling again!!!! I cannot wait to be back in the Zed fold again!! Craig.
  9. I've know how you feel as I had to let my Prodrive Impreza go for less than I wanted. I'm looking for a Zed right now, having owned one before, and wish your car was a bit cheaper as I can only stretch to £16k...........however it would be in your bank account tomorrow if you were interested!!
  10. Definite no no....I think they are illegal to fit them to a car after 1st Jan 1973. More hassel than they are worth.
  11. I think that white is the best colour for a Zed, it looks awesome . It wouldn't be worse than any other colour to keep clean, apart from black which is the best colour when shiney, but the worst when dirty. My old 2004 Kuro black Zed was by far the hardest car to keep clean I've ever owned. It stayed clean for about 5mins. White would also hide the numerous stone chips that you will no doubt accumulate. Go for white.
  12. In no way shape or form did I claim that Chris's photoshopped Zed was a showcar, I said that the green was a "show car" colour. Just the colour not the car. It just reminds me of Max Power magazine straight away. Its the same garish shades that all their feature cars have whether its green / orange / purple. Awful. White is classy, not trashy!!
  13. The colours alright if you want to drive around in a big bogie. Its a showcar colour and just does not suit a "real world" car. White still gets my vote.
  14. It doesn't matter if white is a JDM factory colour or not, you still won't see many in the UK. There is a good reason why you can't get lambo green Zeds from new.......its because the colour is disgusting!!
  15. There is a decent writeup and pics at the link below. Clicky toffeeman
  16. Green is absolutley minging!! White....all day long!
  17. Was that original quote of £730 to replace the driveshafts or was it to just perform the service procedure linked below? Clicky It seems a bit much if all they are doing is regreasing the driveshafts and just replacing a few pins / washers. The link is from this site. toffeeman
  18. I never had this defect with my 2004 Zed. Whats the fix for this particular problem?

    insurance

I agree, I think this is why Ins companies boost the premiums due to the "fanciability" factor. I can't understand how this works though, as "fanciability" is purely a subjective opinion. A set of wheels that look good to one person might look like horsew@nk to another! I'd like to know what they would say if somebody put a set of 15" steel rims on their Zed, they are aftermarket wheels afterall. Its a con! toffeeman.
  20. Anybody got any idea what wheels these are?? Clicky cheers, toffeeman
  21. I'm currently looking for my second Zed but it amazes me, that for such a stunning looking car, how many after market wheels don't suit the car. I haven't seen a set yet that I would fit to my (forthcoming) Zed. The original set I had on my 2004 Zed (the 6 spoke non Rays), I thought, really suited the car and would have them again over anything else. I never thought I would say that as I usually hate OEM wheels (apart from the Clio V6 ones which I liked). toffeeman.
  22. Nixy, I've always pressure washed my car engines with the engine running. Never had any starting problems or any ther problems. I've done this on two Imprezas and my previous Zed. Works a treat! toffeeman
