I think the 2004 is more complicated unit for housing an Lcd in whereas the 2003 version is quite simpler and bigger space. A 2003 can fit in 2004 and 2005 but not vice versa. I think

Someone said to me to get an optical but i guess a 3.5mm will do, however not sure what the sound quality will be like if coming out of the mac earphones socket. but then I guess if going through my head unit it should be fine. I have a 15" sub and an amp installed already but not hooked up to the car headunit as it wont support it. But the guy who had car before me said that they have left all the leads there. So Im gussing as long as the Apple mac is connected to the headunit there should not be a problem with connecting to the rest of the unit. You think I should just leave it to the audio people and they can do it all or should I get the extra leads I need before hand?

Sweet you think I should buy this? Also Will I need an optical lead from my mac to head unit, cant see how the two will attatch as there is no optical output socket from my mac. Okay almost have everything I need to get this baby on the go, been on a couple of forums and everyone says DO NOT USE YOUR MAC TO RUN THROUGH THE 4 CHANNEL AMPS TO POWER SPEAKERS, they say get a head unit that the mac can speak through and let the headunit go through the speakers. Other wise there will be alot of wierd sounds coming through. Great, more money to spend . So now I need to know which is a cheap but okay head unit to get for this, probably get on ebay preferably under a 100, someone said it should have aux in or out for this to work cant remember. Any help guys?? Great thing is I can still have radio with this head unit. which was proving a headache if I just ran everything of the mac mini

I used them they are good, but they are expensive, but you have to take into consideration that they come out to you which is where the majority of the charge is. I had them come out again to give me a quote, and found that my local garage who also do just as good a job charge me 150 pounds cheaper and I was without my car for 1 day. So if you have the patience, you could save yourself quite a bit.
