Ok then before someone else hijacks my post, can anyone recommend me a good set of alloys please. Preferably as big as possible and around the 700-800 mark. Bythe way those wheels in Sarnies post are stunning. Is that a lambo there on? How much are they?

I went in to my local car modifying shop type place and saw cracking alloys. The only problem was he was asking £1600 for them with Falken tyres on them! I thought this was pricey so I looked on the internet and found what I think are the same ones but without tyres fitted but for £750 so with four new tyres I'm probably looking at about £1200. I check them approx every 2 weeks but when I'm going a long journey I usually check them on that day. I'm still running with the Kumo Ecsta's he put on but they are a pile of sh1te! I haven't changed them yet as I'm gong to buy a set of 20" Alloys so no point buying them now at 17". The garage stamped my service book and marked it 'Lube Service" this refers that he has only changed the oil does it not? Hmmm 60 mile round journey for an free oil change!!!! I looked at the air filter, it looks new but would it get that dirty anyway that I would tell the difference? The garage had two mechanics when i got there this morning, both were under the age of 25 IMO. Both were foreign, one being Polish. Afterwards I'm thinking he must be paying these guys really crap wages if he's having to employ kids really to work on these high performance cars. He must be exploiting these poor guys. Also how can he check if they really are mechanics if they are from abroad. They more I think about it the more I know I definately won't be back.

I took it in to a local tyre fitting shop (farmers in Falkirk) The manager told me that pulling to the side is not a sign of either unbalanced tyres or incorrect tracking....WTF?

That is usually a sign of the tracking being out. Is it just under braking, at speed or both? Generally when I'm braking although it doesn't feel the same at speed.

I've decided to go back to the garage and take the free service but I'll get it checked over by a proper garage afterwards and never go back. However read more, you'll never believe this!!! My car was veering to the side the last couple of weeks so I took it to a local tyre fitting place. i wasn't in the place two minutes when the guy said to me "do you know your front tyres are round the wrong way"! Now I'll take some responsibility because I should have checked when he put the new rear tyres on but too be honest you would have though they would have checked all the tyres after the major mistake they made.....wouldn't you? So all i would say is stay very clear of the mechanics at McKay trading in Edinburgh as they are a f**king disgrace!

Hi Jim I thought about them too at the time. However I doubt very much If Kye would tell you their name as he seems extremely money orientated and he would want his cut. I'm very wary of dealing with this guy now as I've had a couple of bad experiences with him and he seems a bit of a shister! On a different note i would check your wiring behind your stereo if I were you. I was changing my stereo and the way they have wired in the band extender is absolutely shocking! It looks to have been done by a 3 year old. I don't know if it could possibly start a fire but I'd check it anyway.

The car isn't juddering mate it just seems to want to vere to the side.

Over the past few weeks my car hasn't been handling as well as it should! It just doesn't feel right at high speed and when I slow down it seems to suddenly veer to the side. Is it something simple like the wheels needing rebalanced or has anyone experienced this and it's been more serious? tyre pressures are fine by the way (35). On a different note I've a couple of chips and scratches on the car. So I took it to a really good garage with a good name (Burgoynes, Airth Stirling). they've quoted me £1200 to respray the full bonnet, one wing and both front and back bumpers. I didn't plan on spending that much but the guy said in order to do a good job you have to spray the full panel so it blends in. As a second option I went to a place called Auto Cosmique in Falkirk. They've quoted me £300 but this is just to spray over the chips and scratches and not respray the full panels. Now I'm a bit wary of letting this guy from Auto Cosmique touch my car in case he makes a hash of it. Has anyone had these stone chip companies repair their car and does it fully hide the chips and marks etc? Any advice appreciated. I'm due to be booked in on Wednesday so I need to make a decision quite sharpish.

I'm trying to get quotes to have my seats retrimmed with leather and a red piping. There was a post in here with photographs with a similiar seat but tan piping. Can anyone tell me where the photograph is please. i want to send the retrimming company the photo so they get a general idea?

Cheers mate. I assume this would come with the full dash part or do I remove part of my existing dash to fit. Where would I get one? I don't know where to start looking. Plus do I have install any additional wiring or is it all there behind the dash? Questions, questions eh!

I removed my centre dash panel today to fit a new stereo (I hope thats what it called). After a bit of help from this forum I found it quite easy to take off. I was wondering as seeing I have just the standard 2003 how hard it would be to replace the centre dash panel with the one that has sat nav? if this is possible where could I get a hold of one and how much would this cost?

Is that a reflection or has it actually been sprayed on? If so it's kinda cool. Not what i would have though but still cool.

Right I've manage to get the centre panel off (thanks Gixxeruk). Now the wiring connector is different at the back but I reckon I'll get something from Halfords tomorow (I hope). The thing that concerns me is the head unit won't fit in to the metal cradle and I don't think the fascia panel is going to fit either. Is there some after market part I can buy and from where? I have the service manual but which part should I be looking at as a guide to install a new head unit? The manual has about 20 pdf's that are all abbreviated....which one?

I've got some of Halfords own make 5w-30 part synthetic. Do you think this would be okay to use?
