  1. I am repulsed in the way that I was when I came home from school early to find my parents shagging... As if Porsche Cayman owners weren't proof enough, those pics just go to show that there are people who have more money than taste.
  2. Thanks Jim! re changing the rear tyres only, is this advisable or is it best to do all four at the same time or is it just the case of changing all four when you are switching to a different brand? Bit of a noob, I know... TIA
  3. Hi, I also need new tyres and have just been ringing round. I have a JDM with 17" alloys. The car has 225/50 R17's on the front and 235/50 R17's on the rear. I have been told that PS2's don't come in the front flavour and that I would have to use Bridgestones again... One guy thought that they should be 225/45 R17's on the front... Surely this can't be right?! What have sizes have other people put on theirs? Thanks, fM
  4. What does that mean for JDM Imports, then? I stand by what I ranted about earlier, by using up the oil quickly we are forcing change. Brown should give gas guzzlers an exemption from fuel duty and car tax!
  5. Just edited my post as you were egging me on!
  6. Gordon can't afford to put the Fuel Duty up at a time when he hopes the country will welcome him with open arms as our leader. So he does this instead... Think about it logically. High powered car owners are expendable. We account for a fraction of the cars on the road so raising RFL on these vehicles is an easy win for Gordon; he gets an extra £44m (based on the BBC's claim that this will affect 220000 vehicles) and it only costs the Labour party a small number of voters, most likely in non-Labour wards. The rest of the country (stupidly) think he is a 'green' politician and every one's a winner... Apart from us. Don't you just love living in a free world? If Gordon Brown was a truly radical politician, he would do what Bush has done and ignore the Kyoto Agreement. Once the oil is gone, its gone and the world will no longer need to rely on the most unstable region on the planet for energy. Therefore WE, the gas-guzzler-owners are the true environmentalists as WE are helping to change the world. How? By speeding up the demise of oil as a source of energy. We are accelerating the need for change and to release the worlds economies from the tyranny of OPEC and ultimately forcing car maunfacturers to truly INNOVATE in alternative fuel technologies. Prolonging the reliance on oil is, frankly, absurd. Use it up. Quick. The alternative to this is also too radical for mainstream politicians and that is to introduce a carbon allowance for every member of the population. But that will never happen because that would affect everyone in the country and politicians don't want to p!$$ everyone off or they won't get elected... The whole environmental issue is just a means for getting politicians elected. Regards, fM PS Does any one care to help me down from my soap-box?

    Oil

Hi All, I have read an awful lot on what oil to use... But what oil do most of you recommend to use in the Z? Also, what will Nissan have put in it? I must ask because I do not have a manual for mine... Yet... TIA, fM
  9. I was recommended AGAINST using an underseal and was recommended to use a wax... Underseal will become brittle, whereas wax will 'creep' and reseal itself when chipped... Also much easier to remove when resealing...
  10. My import dealer said they have a UK spec bumper with the washer jets in that they put on for the SVA then remove afterwards... So this particular dude didn't bother trying to swap out the bulbs...
  11. I removed my screen and noted down the pin outs... It would seem that the screen supports RGB Sync input, but not composite, UNLESS someone has the pin-outs for the DVD Rom drive behind the drivers seat? I have found an option for "VTR" from teh TV menu, so it would seem it accepts a Video input...
  12. Or they just like some tail end fun?! Oo-err!
  13. I agree totally that it was expensive... I will post some pics be 'cos as Stuey said, everything EXCEPT the exhaust was done in Black Waxoyl. fM
  14. That would be me. I did seriously think about doing it myself and then thought better of it... I've done cars in the past and I know just how messy it can be! They pressure washed the underside then treated it with a chemical dryer then sprayed it with hard black Waxoyl... They also removed the boot linings and door cards and sprayed inside all of the box beams and sills. I will post some pictures of the underside, if you want. He did say that he has been asked for a forum discount for a JDM Mitsu forum but he claims that he is close to the knuckle on pricing in any case. Expensive? Definitely. But I plan on keeping my Z for a few years and want it to last... Once I found out mine hadn't been done I stopped driving it. Paranoid? Most likely, but you just have to spend 10 minutes on this forum to hear how thin Nissan's paint is on the Z... Personally, I would get it done. But then I would say that having spent what I did!

    JCImports

Hi, I bought my Z from John. He is really helpful, answers emails very quickly and I would recommend him. HOWEVER! John had been away on holiday just before I picked mine up and a month after I picked it up I realised mine had NOT been undersealed. When I asked him about this, he said that I could fetch it back and he would arrange it, or to save me the hassle he would send me a cheque for £50. He said that the place he normally gets them done at charge him £25... Now I don't know about you but even a £50 job sounds too cheap for me on a £15k+ car... I took his £50 and took my car to www.waxworks.net up near Morpeth, guy called Simon... Simon charges £320 and does the car properly, wheel arch linings taken off, entire underside done with Black Waxoyl, inside panels done with clear Waxoyl. He dropped us off in Newcastle and picked us up when the car was done. Simon loves cars in general (obvious during the journey to Newcastle) and he has done a fantastic job... As good as you would do to your own car, just less all the hassle... In summary, I WOULD recommend JC Imports, BUT ask John NOT to arrange the underseal (for a discount) and take it to Simon instead... He (Simon) may be expensive, but I like peace-of-mind... In a way I'm pleased that my car didn't get undersealed from JC Imports... I would have been driving round thinking my car was done when it wasn't - £25 doesn't sound like a thorough job to me... Depends on how long you are planning on keeping the Z... HTH, Tim
  16. If so - are you ok? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/nissan-350Z-2006- ... dZViewItem Ouch...
  17. Hi All, I have a JDM with the standard (non-Bose) single DIN HU and am planning an upgrade... Quick question - what size are the speakers in the doors? I haven't found a definitive answer in other posts... Thanks, fM
  18. @Mini My wife reversed in to my MGF a few years ago, hitting it exactly in the same place as yours has been hit... One quote I got was over £1200; they wanted to take the rear wing off and weld a new one on. I was advised against doing this as it would be susceptible to rust. I got another quote from a body shop for filling the dent and painting the wing and door. This was £450 if I paid for it or £650 if the insurance did... In the end I claimed on the insurance... 12 years NCB, you are damned right mine is protected! HTH fM
  19. How do you all manage to get your little presents to yourself past SWMBO? Mine goes ape @*!# at the stuff I buy! Surprised she's letting me buy a 350 at all, actually!
  20. I have had some Michelin Pilot Sports on my MkV Golf GTTDI and would agree that they are not very durable... Great tyres and well grippy but quite soft, I think. For info, Costco (like Makro but better) sell Michelin tyres and although you have to be a member, you can ring up and get a price. This has been enough for my local tyre fitter to price match to... Costco were about £25 cheaper PER TYRE for my Golf! www.costco.co.uk HTH fM PS Pick my Daytona Blue 350 up tomorrow!!! How on earth am I gonna sleep tonight?!
  21. At the moment the car is in getting the front-end resprayed due to stone chips. I am supposed to be picking it up next weekend so will have a good look at it then and see whether I can knock him down a bit if it isn't T spec... All I can think, from reading Bonsai & other sources is that it is a base spec but the previous owner bought some leather seats for it?
  22. To the original poster... Something to cheer you up... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjy-Jnqn1C0 There are 13 and counting! My fave is No. 2 Feckin' brilliant!!! Especially if you know Middlesbrough... Unfortunately, I work there! fM
  23. Hi, Yes, they would be able to confirm it if he hadn't just gone away for a week! On the picture of the cabin that I posted, it sounds as if the heated seat buttons should be where the centre bit dips down, just behind the hazard warning button? Cheers, fM
  24. Thanks, Leenx... I had a look at Bonsai's website... I am not buying from them so don't really want to call them yet... The car is immaculate, when I said the seats weren't heated, what I should have said is that I couldn't see any buttons for switching the heating elements on! Also, where are the electric seat controls situated? Why does it look as if it has had a Bose system fitted? I could turn the stereo right up without any distortion whatsoever and the bass did sound quite powerful... Thanks, fM
