  1. Thanks for all the suggestions...shocks are coming off this afternoon...so hopefully will get to the bottom of it..... Thanks Ben
  2. Not sure how long its been on there. Its a 2003 import, which has only been in the UK for 3 months or so. The noise was present from day one. I've read other posts regarding the drivetrain etc, but this noise happens all the time even when coasting over uneven surfaces......the rear feels as if its damping properly but making clunky noises in the process. The fronts are silent...... 60 thousand miles on the clock..... Cheers Ben
  3. Hi, definatley not the exhaust, I've stripped all the trim and tools from the boot, and its not drivetrain related either.....I presume the garage checked the anti-roll bar etc.....
  4. Hello there, My Z has ohlins suspension all round......the rear rattles like nobodies business on even the slightest uneven surface i.e most roads. When i say rattle dont mistake this for something minor....its loud and crashy. Its been in to my local garage and they find nothing wrong or loose anywhere, so they presume the rear units themselves. The noise is present at any ride height and set at any firmness..... I'd like to point the finger at the shocks themselves but they dont even have to compress to make the noise....as even driving over road markings makes the noise. Only on the motorway do they shut up....... Any ideas chaps ? Flumuxed
  5. Hello there, Does anybody know the part number for the UK Fog/Indicator lamp cluster in the rear bumper......??? Cheers Ben
  6. Chaps, Need a UK Fog/Indicator lamp for an ESVA test to save putting a hole in the rear bumper for an after market fogger. Cant find one in a breakers at the moment nor on ebay and Mr Nissan wont sell me one due to me not having a UK chasis number. Also does anyone know the part number for the UK fog light???? Cheers Ben
  7. How on earth did it pass the SVA then? The VOSA test station I go to tell me that the speedo converters have to be very accurate indeed, and the margin for error is a couple of MPH either way. I suppose it depends on how accurate your GPS receiver is...i.e. how many satellite's/channels it uses ? Ben
  8. Cheers guys.... It passed with a pair of Halogen bulbs bodged in anyway. Just had to bypass the Xenon Ballast unit and wire the halogens up to 12v...tricky to get them aligned though.... The xenons are now back in the lamps without the need for washer jets etc....and I've been told there is no reason they wont pass the MOT (when due) as the MOT test is nowhere near as anal as the ESVA. Happy.
  9. Most importers whip out the HID bulbs and wire up a pair of halogen bulbs by bypassing the HID ballast unit.....the only issue I have with this, is how to fit them to the headlamp units, it doesn't seem possible. Then of course they cannot be adjusted so have to be set my an MOT garage before going for the SVA retest, hoping that they do not move around on the drive there !
  10. There is no difference they just have many names.....
  11. Cheers Guys......so i take it that they are a straight swap...... My brother didnt use an importer, he used me instead......! As long as i know i can swap them for some Non HID with not much fuss then I'm a happy bunny..... next issue is sourcing some that dont come from Mr Nissan Uk, as he is probably going to want to remove my pants and spank my behind !!!!! Any suggestions chaps ????!?!?!? Many thanks Ben (I like this forum, everyone is nice)
  12. Hi guys......my brother has just imported a Z, and we thought we had done everything required to get it through its ESVA test today..........I have imported various cars in the past for myself so i was confident it was going to pass first time..........I was wrong !!!!! It failed because the headlights are gas discharge efforts and Japan being a sensible country, they dont have to have washers and be self levelling.....the UK requires this functionality.......ridiculous ! so it failed......gutted ! So my question to you knowledgable lot is this: What are my options? : - Can UK 350z's come with normal bulbed headlights instead well as the fancy pants HID units? (HID will not do as I have no washers or self levelling gubbins) or if not do I have to search for a set of non HID JDM Headlamps? Is there any way of butchering the HID units to incorporate a normal bulb? I blame the Germans for all this un-necessary technology! I would be most gretful for any help/advice...... Thanks in advance Ben
