  4. Sarnie! You bloody had to do it didn't you! Mines uk at front and JDM on rear - I'm quite happy with it like that.
  5. Contratulations! All the luck in the world to you both x
  6. mmm, and didn't I just confess to taking a year to find my spare set...........
  7. just to show how bloody lucky he really was: http://www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/ ... ale_crash/ makes my blood run cold! Worse of all if you google that road there are so many bikers that have died on it already. Hope he never gets back on another one!
  8. totally agree with Digsy and Sarnie - I don't want anyone coming into my bedroom looking for my car keys! Someone my sister works with had that happen to them - they had two brand new mercs, she woke up when she heard the blokes in their bedroom, husband kept snoring, she's laying in bed with her arm hanging out with a massive diamond solitaire engagement ring on. Totally terrified and pretending to be asleep and hoping and praying hubbie doesn't wake up! They got the keys and the mercs (police reckoned they were stolen to order) but it could have been so much worse! They can have my motor any day!
  9. Hi and welcome. I've always used either sainsburys super or bp ultimate but once got caught short and had to put bog standard stuff in and it was fine.
  10. Thanks Stan, I'll bear that in mind.
  11. Thanks everyone - I actually feel even worse this morning when I realise what could have happened. It seems they were at Hawes on the way to the Lakes - enthusiastic riding, round a bend and straight into a lorry coming the other way which had straddled the white line in order to fit round. Harl dropped his bike luckily but the other 3 involved were fairly badly hurt - one of them has broken both legs in more than one place and his arm in more than one place, the muscle was also bulging out of his arm, pillion was thrown through barbed wire into a field, she has a broken leg, not sure about the other guy but he also has at least a broken leg, my son is the only one involved who stood up and walked clear as they were in front of him. The problem we have now is what to do with the bike - police have impounded it pending an investigation but then what will they do with it? Obviously he is now worried they will charge him for keeping it but he wants it back to break up and sell the bits - at least he'll get something back then. Oh and Bennets Bike Insurance were absolutely useless and unhelpful!
  12. well just to top it off - I have put my mobile phone in the washing machine! Not my machine as it's bust (another miserable tale) so now I am incomunicado with the whole bloody world! If I was the sort of girl that swore lots the air would be blue but I think I'll go away and have a cry! Yes, I CAN hear you laughing!
  13. Your Liz could have picked him up, it would have been cheaper for me to salvage him from your house in the Z! Why didn't I think of that earlier....in fact you could have kept him there a few days!
  14. Can't have been Hawes - he is on the M6 in a taxi which suggests lakes as originally planned. He has just phoned in a panic - taxi driver says approx £300! I've tried to find out where he is and which way he's coming so I can go get him but he's in a state and surprisingly the taxi driver says he doesn't know where he's going, just following sat nav (you all know I'm a geography phobe!) I've told him to get out, find where he is and I'll come and get him but apparently he's only in his boxers and socks! - I'm leaving home..............after I've been to the bank I suppose! Oh, and he can't blame anyone - he pannicked and stuck his brake on apparently - new brakes as well so pretty sharp! Must have gone over the top.
  15. He's at Hawes, wherever that is! They've just called me, they've all had a whip round for a taxi all the way home for him - bike is staying put with Police.
  16. not yet, i'll let you know. Just sat here waiting to see what happens next - feel pretty helpless really but he's not on his own.
  17. Yes, that's what I was thinking - it's tricky with bikes because you are always more likely to just put it down to avoid being killed but it doesn't make it your fault just because you weren't hit. Have to wait and see - apols for any road blockages out your way Martin! I am dreading him coming home it will be unbearable - to him it is like one of us losing our Z with no payout from insurance. I told him to take fully comp but it was mega bucks.
  18. You won't believe this, (those that were around last september will remember), but my son has just after many painstaking months of being skint got his bike back as new after his accident last year. Gone for a ride out to the lakes today with a crowd - written it off! 3 of the party gone in air ambulance, he's thankfully ok. I don't know the details but it seems the accident with a lorry happened in front of him and he had to put the bike down. I am gutted for him - yet again he only had 3rd party insurance due to the cost. I'm clutching at straws here - if he had to put the bike down because of someone else's actions do you think he's got any chance of recovering anything? Waiting for the full info and waiting for him to be brought home! He was out with very experienced adult riders, not a bunch of his young mates. I just wish he'd pack it in!
  19. make the most of it sarnie, you'll soon be turning the page over to this:
  20. Right ok, who knows how I can get spat out tea off my keyboard!
  21. Yes, the Tribbles - remember them well - look what Stan's started and he's not even here to take the blame!
  22. you've done the right thing (consumer direct IS trading standards by the way). It's just a matter of sitting tight now and fingers crossed! Make sure you keep in touch with consumer direct and keep them informed and ask for advice from them throughout the process. This garage won't won't to be badgered by you or them so just keep chipping away!
  23. yep, I went along with 3 quo fans - not a fan at all myself but just being in the middle of the forest was fab - never been before it was very unusual! anway, to cut a long story short - i've got a tatty old waterproof that I've had hidden in the hole behind my driver's seat for the past year (since the floods) and I thought i better take it to Dalby Forest in case it rained. Put it on at the end of the night when I got cold - stuck my hand in the pocket (which wasn't even fastened) and what did I find? MY KEYS!!!
  24. and it's all thanks to Status Quo - I kid you not..............
